Stray Kids member Felix became a talking point after sharing a series of behind-the-scenes photos from his visit to the Ferrari team at the Singapore Grand Prix last weekend. The posts not only drew reactions from fans but also marked a strategic move by Ferrari to reach younger audiences in Asia-Pacific through cross-industry collaboration.
Felix, known as a devoted Ferrari fan, was invited directly by the team to the Marina Bay Circuit. Through his personal Instagram account, he posted several portraits showing his interactions with the mechanics and drivers. In the photo caption, he wrote, "Ferrari behind the scenes." As of October 18, the post had garnered more than 648,000 likes and 6,000 comments. Earlier, on race day, he also posted a photo with the short caption "Forza Ferrari" that received more than two million likes.
The enthusiasm of fans—known as Stays—immediately flooded the comment section. Many said they were happy to see Felix's joy, while others were impressed by his moment with driver Charles Leclerc. "Felix is so genuinely happy to be there. Forza Ferrari!" one fan wrote. Others highlighted his style, including the 41mm rose gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph 50th Anniversary watch he wore, priced at around $112,000 to $118,000.
Felix's visit was more than a personal appreciation. Ferrari, through its Asia-Pacific account, had teased the collaboration before the race with a joint post titled "From the circuit to the stage. United by racing, driven by passion." The team also released a video following Felix around the garage, signaling an official effort to leverage the K-pop star's popularity. The move aligns with a global trend in which racing teams increasingly embrace celebrities to broaden their fan base, especially in the large Asian market.
For Indonesia, this phenomenon could boost interest in Formula 1. Local K-pop fans who have followed Stray Kids may start to take an interest in racing, especially as drivers and teams make promotional visits to Southeast Asia more frequently. Ferrari itself has a fanatical fan base in Indonesia, and collaborations like this can strengthen their attachment to the brand.
On the other hand, the race at Marina Bay did not go smoothly for Ferrari. Charles Leclerc finished second behind Max Verstappen, while Lewis Hamilton had to settle for sixth after a less-than-ideal strategy. Nevertheless, the Maranello-based team remains second in the constructors' standings and will look to bounce back at the next round in Austin, United States, this weekend.
Going forward, collaborations between the entertainment world and motorsport appear likely to become more frequent. Ferrari and other teams may be more aggressive in bringing in pop idols to reach younger generations. The question is whether this phenomenon will truly change the demographics of F1 viewers, or merely become a fleeting euphoria on social media.
