The Blora Regency Government has achieved national recognition by winning the Outstanding Grassroots MSME Empowerment & Business Transformation category at the CNN Indonesia Awards 2026. The award was presented directly by CNN Indonesia Director Desi Anwar to Blora Regent Arief Rohman during the award ceremony at JW Marriott, South Jakarta, on Friday (6/11).
The award signals that the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region is no longer merely a ceremonial program. Blora was judged to have successfully combined three crucial elements: increasing production capacity, product development, and expanding access to digital markets. The approach targets local business actors directly through business facilities, sustained mentoring, and strengthened marketing.
What sets Blora apart from other regions is the active involvement of philanthropic institutions and universities. The ZMODIS (Zona Modis) program, run together with BAZNAS, serves as a support channel for MSMEs, while an entrepreneurship collaboration with Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) strengthens innovation and business management. This synergy enables small business actors to gain access to knowledge, networks, and capital that have been difficult to reach.
The CNN Indonesia Awards itself is an event honoring individuals, institutions, and leaders deemed to have made real contributions to advancing Indonesia. Since it was first held, the event has traveled to a number of provinces—from South Sulawesi, North Sumatra, West Java, Bali, South Sumatra, East Java, Central Java, to Jakarta. This year's edition is the ninth, reaffirming its position as a barometer of regional development initiatives.
For Blora, this award is not merely symbolic recognition. Amid economic pressures that still weigh on the real sector, a region's ability to help MSMEs move up a class is key to local economic resilience. An approach that places business actors as subjects—not objects—of development is considered more sustainable. However, the challenges ahead remain significant: ensuring the program does not stop at ceremony but continues with clear impact measurement.
Going forward, the public will be watching whether Blora's model of empowerment can be replicated in other regions. If successful, it is not impossible that Blora could become a national reference in MSME transformation based on multi-stakeholder collaboration. The question is, to what extent will the central government adopt a similar approach on a wider scale?
