Arema FC will host Bali United in matchweek 8 of the 2026/2027 BRI Super League at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, on Saturday (31/10/2026). The match is a test for both teams, who are dealing with a congested schedule under differing physical conditions.
Arema FC arrive with high confidence after thrashing Dewa United 4-0 last week. Bali United, meanwhile, had to settle for a draw against Persita Tangerang and are still searching for their first away win of the season.
Bali United coach Johnny Jansen acknowledged his team have faced a grueling spell throughout October. Serdadu Tridatu have played four matches with short turnarounds, including an away trip to Dewa United, a home match, and then a visit to Persita. “We only had one day to rest before training again and traveling to Arema,” Jansen said, as quoted by Bola.com.
Jansen is particularly wary of two aspects of Arema's game: quick transitions and set-piece situations. “They are very good in transition moments and set pieces. We have to prepare a plan to anticipate both,” he said.
In the opposing camp, Arema FC interim coach Andre Caldas believes his team's preparation is more thorough than the previous week. If before facing Dewa United Arema had only about one and a half to two days, they now have four full days to train. “We can do a lot of training and develop ideas that will be useful for the match against Bali United and the next game,” Caldas said.
Nevertheless, Caldas remains wary of Bali United's attacking sharpness. He considers Serdadu Tridatu to have a balance between attack and defense. For that reason, he has asked Arema's back line to play cohesively and with discipline. “Whichever defender I choose must be ready, consistent, and not give Bali any space,” he said.
Arema FC are predicted to field a 4-3-3 formation with Syahrul Trisna Fadillah in goal. The back line consists of Achmad Maulana Syarif, Diego Luiz Landis, Hansamu Yama Pranata, and Leo Guntara. In midfield are Arkhan Fikri, Betinho, and Matheus da Conceição Nascimento. The attacking trident comprises Gabriel Silva Costa, Marcos Vinicius Silvestre Gaspar, and Careca.
Bali United are likely to use a 4-2-3-1 scheme with Mike Hauptmeijer as goalkeeper. The back four consists of Thijmen Goppel, Tim Geypens, Thomas Lam, and Ricky Fajrin. Teppei Yachida and Tim Receveur fill the double pivot, with Irfan Jaya, Queven Inacio, and Rahmat Arjuna supporting Marko Dugandzic up front.
This match is not only about three points but also about energy management amid a congested schedule. The fresher Arema FC are eager to continue their positive run, while Bali United are trying to steal points despite limited rotation. Can Singo Edan capitalize on their rest advantage, or will Serdadu Tridatu manage to snatch a result at Kanjuruhan?
