Harry Kane has all but secured his future at Bayern Munich. Club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen revealed that negotiations over a contract extension for the England forward have entered the final stage, with only administrative formalities remaining.
Dreesen made the statement to BILD on Wednesday, a day after Kane was named the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner. The award was a historic moment because Kane became the first Bundesliga footballer in 30 years to win it, beating Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal.
“We are finalizing the details now. It will only take a few days. Usually the lawyers from both sides review the small points once more,” Dreesen said. He added that all major issues had been discussed and negotiated before the Ballon d'Or ceremony took place.
Kane himself had previously given a positive signal. During last month's international break, he said talks with Bayern were going smoothly and that both sides were “very close” to an agreement. “There are still a few things that need to be sorted out. I am happy here. I think there will be an announcement soon,” he said.
Kane's current contract expires at the end of this season. Negotiations have been underway since August, and the extension will be an important marker of stability for Bayern's project under its new coach. Although he started on the bench in the 6-1 win over Magdeburg in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday, Kane is scheduled to return to the starting XI when Borussia Dortmund visit the Allianz Arena in Der Klassiker this weekend.
For Bayern, keeping Kane is not merely about retaining a goal predator. His presence has raised the club's profile in international markets, especially in England, and has become a magnet for sponsors and commercial development. The deal nearing completion also gives the team certainty about its direction ahead of the winter transfer window.
On the other hand, Kane is at the peak of his career. The Ballon d'Or title confirms his status as one of the best forwards of this generation, and a new contract will be both a financial guarantee and an ambitious sporting project. At an age that is no longer young, the decision to stay in Germany shows his commitment to winning more trophies, including the Champions League, which he has never experienced.
The question now is: will the official announcement come before Der Klassiker, or after it? What is clear is that Bayern and Kane are heading into a new chapter that benefits both sides.
