- Raphinha tampil impresif dengan 14 gol dari 8 laga, melampaui catatan Haaland, dan dianggap lebih cocok dengan kebutuhan lini serang The Gunners.

Arsenal are reportedly exploring the chance to sign a world-class forward to bolster their Premier League title ambitions for the 2026/27 season. After successfully breaking Manchester City's dominance last season, The Gunners' management do not want to rest on their laurels. Two names have surfaced: Erling Haaland and Raphinha, with the latter touted as the more promising option.
Arsenal's interest in Haaland is no idle talk. The Norwegian forward has been a scourge for Arsenal's back line in recent years, scoring six goals in 12 meetings against The Gunners. His record of 169 goals in 205 appearances for City underscores his status as one of the most lethal strikers in Europe. However, the situation at Manchester City, currently engulfed by the storm of sanctions over 114 financial breaches, could be an opening for Arsenal to poach him.
Even so, an argument has emerged that Raphinha could in fact be the more appropriate addition. The Barcelona winger is in peak form: 14 goals in eight appearances across all competitions this season, including 12 goals in seven LaLiga matches. Carlo Ancelotti even called him "one of the best players in the world". Analyst Neal Gardner labelled him "world-class". Statistics show Raphinha is superior in shots on target per 90 minutes and accuracy compared with Haaland, and he also possesses strong dribbling ability.
Arsenal's need for a new forward is growing more urgent. Viktor Gyokeres has yet to show the expected form, playing only 29 minutes in the Premier League this season. Meanwhile, Kai Havertz is still struggling with injuries that raise questions about his consistency as a spearhead. Manager Mikel Arteta is said to want a forward who can be relied upon up front.
Sporting director Andrea Berta is reported to be ready to shift focus to Raphinha. Barcelona are in fact reluctant to let the Brazilian go, but Arsenal have reportedly held talks with the player's camp. A high price is no obstacle if the main target can be secured. With the quality he possesses, Raphinha is believed to be able to give a new dimension to Arsenal's attack, both as a scorer and a creator.
"Raphinha is one of the best players in the world right now. His ability to score and create chances makes him very valuable," said Carlo Ancelotti on one occasion.
For Arsenal, choosing between Haaland and Raphinha is not merely a matter of individual quality, but also long-term strategy. Haaland is a pure penalty-box predator, while Raphinha offers flexibility and creativity. Both could improve the attack, but the need for a player who can operate in several positions may be more urgent. Moreover, Raphinha has an edge in adapting to Arteta's style, which relies on high pressing and wing play.
The final decision rests with Arsenal's management. If they succeed in signing Raphinha, The Gunners will not only get a sharp forward but also a figure who can be the engine of their attack. Meanwhile, the chance of signing Haaland may be harder to realise given that City will most likely fight hard to keep their star, even with the shadow of sanctions looming. Whatever the choice, Arsenal's move in the winter transfer window will be in the spotlight and will determine whether they can retain the title or instead slip up.
