The meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and PDIP Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri on Monday (28/9) night was said to have not yet reached the stage of dining together. Gerindra Party Daily Chairman Sufmi Dasco Ahmad revealed that the fried rice dish usually served at meetings between the two figures had not yet been served because dinner time had not arrived. Dasco made the statement at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (29/9), indicating that communication between the leaders of the two major parties is still ongoing.

Dasco explained that a follow-up meeting would be scheduled later, with Puan Maharani—PDIP DPP Chairwoman and Megawati's daughter—appointed as the organizer. "It will be arranged at another time for us to eat fried rice together," Dasco said. Fried rice is not merely a menu item but a symbol of closeness that has long been a hallmark of Prabowo-Megawati meetings. In the context of Indonesian politics, such meetings are often interpreted as efforts to maintain cross-party communication ahead of strategic national agendas.

Puan Maharani, who was present on the same occasion, emphasized that Monday night's meeting was cordial. She expressed hope that no party would try to divide the relationship between the two political families. "Don't let anyone divide us or make it seem as though we are not close. So the point is that we remain like family, far from sight but always close at heart," Puan said. The statement underscores efforts to maintain coalition stability and dampen public speculation about a rift between Gerindra and PDIP.
