Metro Jaya Police have confirmed that the exhumation of the body of Sutrimo, a man said to have once worked at the residence of former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah, has produced documents that are now in the hands of investigators. The confirmation came after a team of forensic and medicolegal doctors completed a series of follow-up examinations on the deceased's body.
Head of Public Relations at Metro Jaya Police Kombes Budi Hermanto said the exhumation results had been coordinated from investigators to the forensic and medicolegal doctors who handled the exhumation. According to him, the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) will present the results to the public in the near future, though he could not confirm an exact date.
"In the near future it will certainly be announced by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation," Budi told journalists on Wednesday (16/9).
The exhumation itself was carried out on Wednesday (12/8) in Wlahar Village, Wangon District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java. The process of re-exhuming the body was part of investigative efforts to obtain medical and scientific evidence to uncover the cause of Sutrimo's death. The operation involved collaboration between Metro Jaya Police, Central Java Police, and Banyumas City Police.
Besides waiting for the exhumation results, investigators are also awaiting the completion of forensic laboratory tests. The examinations include analysis of body tissue, DNA, and substances found on the body. The combination of medical evidence and witness statements is expected to answer the mystery of Sutrimo's death that has long gripped public attention.
Of the 27 witnesses who have been questioned, their backgrounds are very diverse. Two are P3D ambulance drivers, two are ambulance drivers who picked up the victim from the crime scene to Muhammadiyah Hospital, and two are ambulance drivers who transported the body from Muhammadiyah Hospital to Banyumas. There is also one other ambulance driver, three people from the hospital (two security officers and one doctor), two body washers, seven witnesses around the scene, three family members of the deceased, one friend of the deceased, one village official, and three parties related to the report at Bareskrim Polri.
On the other hand, former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah denied information that Sutrimo held the status of head of household (Karumga). Firman Wijaya, a member of Febrie's legal team, stressed that the deceased mostly guarded an empty house and lived there. Sutrimo was also said to often return to his hometown or take other jobs, so he did not work continuously for Febrie.
"So the deceased's position was not as Karumga as has been widely stated, but more toward guarding the empty house and living there," Firman said in his statement.
The differing interpretations of Sutrimo's role add another layer of complexity to this case. The public is also waiting to see whether the exhumation and forensic test results will lead to a single conclusion, or instead open new speculation. What is clear is that transparency and timeliness of the announcement will test the credibility of investigators amid widespread scrutiny.
Going forward, attention will focus on the moment of the official announcement from Ditreskrimum Metro Jaya Police. If the results are published soon, the public hopes for clarity on the cause of death as well as legal certainty for all parties. However, if the announcement continues to be delayed, the space for wild interpretation could obscure the facts and erode trust in the investigation process.
