British singer James Blunt has revealed that he is often seen as having 'Traitor vibes' in everyday life. Even so, he is determined to play the role of a Faithful in the latest series of Celebrity Traitors. The admission came as he discussed his strategy for the reality competition, which tests trust and deception.
Blunt, known for the song 'You're Beautiful', said his ambition to be a Faithful stems from a desire to come across as a 'good person'. He believes many other contestants may be tempted to become a Traitor for ego and a leading role. "I want to be a Faithful. I aspire to be a good person, especially because I'm not actually a good person. At least this once, it's nice to be good," he said in an interview with the show's organizers.
However, he realizes his biggest weakness is the suspicious aura he radiates without realizing it. "My biggest weakness must be that I radiate Traitor vibes in everyday life. My biggest strength... I don't know. I hope to be a good and proactive Faithful, and to be a team player," he added. He also stressed that there are more Faithfuls than Traitors, so unity is the key to their strength.
Beyond strategy, Blunt highlighted the difference between his public persona and his true self. He described himself as an annoying little man, in line with the image he presents on social media. "My public persona is indeed an annoying little man, and I am that person! People may think I'm funny and cheerful, and I think so too. Rather than being obsessive, it's better to enjoy the process. I'm here for a holiday," he said with a laugh.
"The missions seem like the silliest part of the whole show. Everything else is dark and scary. But seeing adults running around on the grass is truly silly, yet also the most innocent. There you can let go without any burden."
Blunt sees the missions as a release from tension and a chance for teamwork. According to him, there is no judging at that stage, so all contestants can unite to achieve a common goal. He hopes his military experience can help, especially his ability to hide in trenches and bushes. "I can crawl in trenches. I'm an expert at hiding in bushes," he joked.
Indonesian context: Reality shows like Traitors are also gaining interest in Indonesia, with local adaptations that emphasize social intrigue. The participation of international celebrities like Blunt shows how this format can attract global attention and could potentially be adopted by the country's creative industry. In addition, Blunt's admission about his public image is a reminder of Indonesian celebrity culture, which often faces pressure to appear perfect on social media.
Blunt's participation in Celebrity Traitors is not only entertaining but also offers a mirror on human nature: between the desire to be good and the temptation to play the traitor. How will his strategy play out? Could his Traitor aura actually be a hidden advantage? The public awaits the continuation of the game at Cardross Castle.
