Pestapora 2026 has cemented itself as one of the year's biggest music events, bringing 330 performers across 19 stages. The festival, themed "Celebration of Surprises," will run for three days, from 25 to 27 September 2026, at Gambir Expo & Hall D2 JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta. For Indonesia's music public, that figure is not just a statistic but a signal that the live performance industry has come back to life after being battered by the pandemic.
Festival Director Kiki Aulia Ucup said that putting together the schedule and poster was a challenge in itself. According to him, fitting hundreds of names into a single poster design is no easy task. "There are 330 performers in total. We're back to the era of Pestapora posters with very small print. We had no choice, because putting 330 performers on one poster turned out to make it not so easy to make the text more readable," Ucup said at a press conference in Cipete, South Jakarta, Wednesday (23/9/2026). He added that the performance rundown had also been announced earlier to give visitors certainty.
Several names are projected to be the main draws. Syahrini will return to the stage after seven years away from music. Fourtwnty is also attempting a comeback with the Erwin Goetawa Orkestra. In addition, Kerispatih will perform with Sammy Simorangkir, King Nassar is preparing a surprise, and Ardhito Pramono will collaborate with Danilla to perform city pop songs from the 1980s. Erwin Gutawa is scheduled to sing with the two of them on the first day. "We're bringing back Kerispatih feat. Sammy Simorangkir, then there's King Nassar who in November will hold a solo concert that happens to also feature a collaboration with Boss Creator," Ucup said.
Notably, this year's Pestapora is bringing in musicians from South Korea for the first time, namely Tuesday Beach Club and Mombrimz. The move marks the festival's effort to broaden its market reach, not just limited to domestic music fans. On the other hand, the lineup also includes big names such as Juicy Luicy, Wijaya 80, Vierratale, Teenage Death Star, Fiersa Besari, Ari Lasso, Rhoma Irama, Raisa, Baale, Barasuara, Bernardya, Jirayut, Maliq & D'Essentials, Mahalini, Dialog Dini Hari, Happy Asmara, and DNA. This combination shows a curation strategy that bridges older and newer generations of music.
For Jakarta's economy, the three-day event could potentially drive the accommodation, transportation, and micro-business sectors around Kemayoran. Large-scale music festivals often act as a catalyst for money circulation in the host area. However, challenges remain: people's purchasing power, which has not fully recovered after the pandemic, is a determining variable in whether tickets sell out or not. Local government and organizers need to ensure accessibility and security so as not to cause congestion and logistical problems.
From an industry perspective, Pestapora 2026 can be read as a barometer of confidence among music ecosystem players in the Indonesian market. The presence of 330 performers on one giant stage shows that demand for live experiences remains high. If successful, this format could potentially be replicated in other cities and strengthen Indonesia's position as a major destination for Southeast Asian music tours. Conversely, if technical problems or a decline in enthusiasm occur, organizers will need to evaluate their business model.
"We want Pestapora to remain a space of surprises, not only for the audience but also for the musicians who perform," Ucup said, describing the spirit of this year's festival.
The remaining question: can Pestapora 2026 not only entertain but also deliver a sustainable economic impact for artists and the MSMEs around it? The public will judge from the three-day event that remains.
