Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx, 58, has confirmed that he and his girlfriend Alyce Huckstepp, 31, are expecting their first child together. He made the announcement on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he joked that he "still got it" despite no longer being young. "I'm going back to the school drop-off line," he said, describing the routine of being a father to a small child.
Foxx is hardly a newcomer to the role of father. From previous relationships, he has Corinne (32) and Anelise (18). Still, this pregnancy has stirred its own doubts. "I'm not hesitant, but 58... you know?" he said, hinting at concerns about the energy and time available to raise a child in his later years.
Those doubts faded after he met Al Pacino, who at 83 had a son, Roman, with his former partner Noor Alfallah in June 2023. Foxx recounted that Pacino even joked about the school drop-off routine at 84. "Every time I get out, they pull me back in," Foxx said, imitating Pacino. That meeting reinforced that becoming a father late in life is not impossible.
Foxx's health drew attention after the stroke he suffered in 2023. In the same interview, he said he is now far more emotional. "I feel amazing. I've been through a lot; I wasn't sure I'd make it back here. I cry easily, and now I cry because I can't believe I get to see these good people again," he said. His daughter even thinks he is too grateful, which he attributes to having been on the brink of death.
"Sometimes my daughter says I'm too grateful, because I almost died, so I'm very thankful for everything." โ Jamie Foxx
That experience changed his life's priorities. Foxx, once known as someone who enjoyed the glitz of Hollywood, now puts his two daughters above all else. "I used to be someone dedicated to the Hollywood mentality of 'let's have fun all the time.' But now, in everything I do, I always think about my two daughters," he told Access Hollywood.
Becoming a father late in life is not rare among Hollywood celebrities. Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Mick Jagger are a few examples of those who remain active parents well past retirement age. For Foxx, though, this decision is more than a statistic. He realizes that time with his child will be limited, so he joked to his girlfriend, "Hold on for 12 more years. If I'm 58, 12 more years puts me at 70... you'll just be wrapping my thighs and giving me tapioca pudding."
In Indonesia, the phenomenon of older fathers is also emerging, especially among professionals who delay marriage or having children for career reasons. Though there are medical risks, many prove that the role of a father is not determined by age, but by the quality of his presence. Foxx's story mirrors the idea that mental readiness and family support matter more than a number.
Going forward, the public will be watching how Foxx takes on his new role. Will he cut back on filming to focus on family, or become even more productive on account of the "new baby"? One thing is clear: his remarks on Jimmy Kimmel Live! affirm that, for Foxx, being a father is a priceless gift, even at an age that is no longer young.
