Bareskrim Polri has again widened its asset hunt in the alleged fraud scandal involving PT Dana Syariah Indonesia (DSI). This time, investigators seized 103 plots of land and buildings at Perumahan D'Trosemi, Trosemi Village, Gatak District, Sukoharjo, Central Java, valued at Rp10.23 billion. The seizure signals that authorities are not only targeting the perpetrators but also seeking to confiscate the proceeds of crime to restore the rights of thousands of victims.
The sealed assets comprise 86 land plots totaling 7,343 square meters and 17 houses with a building area of 1,200 square meters. All are certified under Hak Guna Bangunan (HGB) in the name of PT Multiguna Cipta Mandiri (MCM), a company controlled by Taufiq Aljfri, President Director of PT DSI. According to Kombes Arsal Sahban, Head of Sub-Directorate II at the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes of Bareskrim Polri, the sealing was carried out after a joint team with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) traced the flow of funds and verified ownership with the Sukoharjo Regency Land Office.
The move shows an investigation pattern that increasingly targets the corporate structure behind DSI. Previously, investigators named several suspects, including TA as President Director and shareholder, MY who once served as Director and shareholder and is affiliated with PT Mediffa Barokah Internasional and PT Duo Properti Lestari, ARL as Commissioner and shareholder, AS as former Director and founder, and FH, a former official at OJK and the Indonesia Stock Exchange. PT DSI itself has been named a corporate suspect.
Arsal stressed that the seizures would not stop at one location. "We will chase the assets of PT DSI and its affiliates wherever they are hidden, under whosever name they are registered. There is no safe place to keep assets linked to this case," he said in a written statement on Saturday (31/10). The statement underscores investigators' determination to uncover money-laundering practices that may involve parties beyond the suspect list.
The DSI case is a test of how effectively Indonesia's sharia financial industry is supervised. The presence of former OJK and IDX officials on the suspect list raises questions about how optimally oversight of entities that collect public funds, especially those under a sharia guise, has been carried out. The asset tracing involving state institutions shows that law enforcement is now also targeting governance and compliance dimensions.
For the victims, the seizure offers hope even though the road to recovery remains long. The value of assets secured so far is not yet comparable to total losses of Rp2.4 trillion, while restitution calculated by LPSK reaches Rp1.07 trillion for 5,102 victims. The asset execution process and distribution of compensation will depend heavily on court rulings and on how quickly investigators map all the suspects' wealth, including assets allegedly transferred to third parties.
Going forward, the public will watch whether the Sukoharjo seizure is only a beginning or part of a larger strategy to trace DSI assets spread across various regions. The question is how quickly the state can return victims' funds before those assets change hands or lose value?
