PSM Makassar are slowly easing out of pressure after briefly sitting on the edge of the BRI Super League 2026/2027 relegation zone. They now occupy 11th place in the provisional standings with nine points, though their goal aggregate remains minus two (9-12).
Juku Eja's revival is tied to a run of positive results over the past three weeks. It began with a 2-1 win at PSIM Yogyakarta, followed by a 1-0 victory over Persebaya Surabaya in front of their own supporters, and closed with a goalless draw against Bhayangkara FC. The four points added from those away matches made up for the points dropped at home.
Previously, Darije Kalezic's side twice failed to win at Stadion Gelora BJ Habibie, Parepare. Draws of 3-3 against Arema FC and 2-2 against Persita Tangerang cost PSM four valuable points. However, the solid run of away results patched up those losses.
Even so, consistency remains a task to be solved. The next two matches will be a stern test: hosting Madura United at home, then travelling to Borneo FC. If they can take full points, PSM could well push into the upper table. Conversely, defeats could send them back to the lower reaches.
Darije Kalezic is under pressure to sharpen the attack. Names such as Stefan Jevtoski, Luka Cumic, and Kodai Tanaka need to be more productive in converting chances. Meanwhile, the back line commanded by Dusan Lagator must be more disciplined and cohesive alongside Aloรญsio Neto, Nenad Lalic, Victor Luiz, Jonathan Kawalo, Henhen Herdiana, and Mufli Hidayat.
"We must stay focused and not get carried away by these positive results. Every match is a final," said a club internal source, describing the team's determination to keep climbing.
With growing confidence as their capital, PSM Makassar have a strong chance to leave the red zone and break into the mid-table race. However, the real challenge is maintaining performance stability so they do not slide back down. Will Juku Eja be able to keep their momentum and close the season in a more respectable position?
