Red Bull Racing has officially unveiled a white race suit for the United States Grand Prix, which will be held at Circuit of the Americas, Austin, on 23-25 October. The launch has sparked speculation that the Milton Keynes-based team will also bring a special livery to the RB22 car, something it has not done all season.
In a video shared through the team's official social media channels, four-time world champion Max Verstappen and his teammate Isack Hadjar appear wearing white race suits with thick blue accents and stitched vintage-style partner emblems. The design is a far cry from Red Bull's visual identity, which is usually dominated by dark blue and red.
Fan reactions immediately flooded the comment section. Many urged the team to wrap the RB22 in a similar white scheme. "Now make a livery that looks like this," wrote one fan. "There's a special livery, right?" another responded. Some also highlighted the potential for confusion on track because the satellite team VCARB also uses white suits. "How am I supposed to tell them apart on track?" quipped one user.
The launch of the white suit is Red Bull's first this season, and if followed by a special livery, it would be a rare moment. The team has been known to very rarely change its car's color scheme mid-season, except for main sponsors or specific celebrations. The move is also seen as an effort to boost exposure ahead of a home race for Red Bull's main sponsor, Oracle, and other partners in the United States market.
On the performance side, Verstappen is enjoying positive momentum after winning the last two grands prix. In Singapore, he dominated the weekend by taking pole position for the sprint race and the main race, then won bothโhis first career victory at Marina Bay. However, that individual dominance has not been enough to lift Red Bull's position in the constructors' standings. The team remains stuck in fourth, far behind Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren.
"We have to keep pushing. Every point counts, and the race in Austin will be a big test for us," Verstappen said in a team statement, as quoted from an official release.
The decision to bring out the white suit is also tied to marketing strategy. F1 in the United States is increasingly important for industry players, especially after Liberty Media aggressively expanded the market there. Red Bull, which has a large fan base in the US, wants to use this moment to strengthen its brand image amid competition with top teams.
For fans in Indonesia, the launch adds to the appeal of the United States GP, which will be broadcast live in the early hours of WIB. The event is also a chance for Red Bull to show that it can still compete at the top level, even if it remains behind statistically. Support from fans in Indonesia, long known for being fanatical about Verstappen, could provide extra energy for the team.
Looking ahead, will Red Bull actually bring a white livery to the RB22? Or is this just a marketing gimmick? The answer will become clear during the first free practice session in Austin. What is certain is that the move has created buzz among fans and the media, proving that F1 is not just about speed on track, but also a game of image and business strategy.
