FEVM has officially launched the FA80G, a 2.6-liter mini computer packing an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D desktop processor and an Nvidia RTX 5090 Laptop GPU with 24GB of memory. The move marks an effort by compact-device makers to push performance limits usually found only in large PC towers.
Unlike most mini PCs that rely on mobile chips, the FA80G is built on the AM5 desktop platform. Its flagship processor has 16 cores, frequencies up to 5.7GHz, and 144MB of cache thanks to 3D V-Cache technology. FEVM allows the CPU to draw up to 90W, while the RTX 5090 Laptop GPU gets up to 150W. The GPU carries 10,496 CUDA cores, 24GB of GDDR7 memory, and 896GB/s of bandwidth, and supports hardware ray tracing, DLSS 4, and Multi Frame Generation.
On the expansion side, the FA80G provides two DDR5 slots capable of holding up to 128GB of RAM and two M.2 2280 connectors for storage up to 4TB. Its cooling system separates the CPU and GPU paths, each with four heat pipes. FEVM claims a noise level of just 42dB under full load, with CPU temperatures below 85ยฐC and GPU below 80ยฐC. Connectivity includes HDMI 2.0, HDMI 2.1, two DisplayPort 2.0, USB-C, USB-A, an SD card reader, and dual 2.5GbE.
Compared with the Apple Mac Studio M5 Ultra, the FA80G takes a different approach. The Mac Studio excels in unified memory capacity of up to 512GB and 1.2TB/s of bandwidth, and has 36 CPU cores and 80 GPU cores. However, for gaming, the Windows CPU and GPU combination in the FA80G is more directly supported by the PC ecosystem. DLSS 4 and frame generation support are added value for gamers who want high performance in a compact format.
"The FA80G is one of the most aggressive mini PCs in terms of specifications for a 2.6-liter size," said a hardware analyst, emphasizing that the device combines a desktop processor and a high-end mobile GPU.
For the Indonesian market, the arrival of the FA80G opens opportunities for consumers who need a powerful yet space-saving computer. Content creators, video editors, and professional gamers who often work from small studios or apartments could consider this device. However, the base price of around US$3,300 (equivalent to Rp50 million) excludes RAM and SSD, so the total cost could swell. Official distribution in Indonesia is also unclear, so prospective buyers should prepare for self-import and limited warranty.
The domestic mini PC market itself is dominated by brands such as Intel NUC and the ASUS PN series, which generally carry mobile chips. The FA80G's presence with a desktop processor could be a differentiator, but it also demands better power supply and cooling. If FEVM can penetrate the Southeast Asian market, competition in the high-end mini PC segment is predicted to heat up.
Going forward, the question is whether FEVM will offer a more affordable variant or establish partnerships with local distributors. Without such steps, the FA80G risks being only a niche product enjoyed by a handful of users. However, if successful, it could be a turning point for the adoption of high-performance mini PCs in Indonesia.
