- Peluncuran Muse dan perangkat Muse Charm menandai langkah Meta memperluas ekosistem AI ke perangkat keras, dengan implikasi bagi pasar teknologi Indonesia.

Alexandr Wang, Chief AI Officer of Meta Platforms Inc., became a talking point after rolling out a series of meme-flavored posts on platform X to introduce Muse, the company's newest personal AI agent. The witty communication strategy not only drew netizens' attention but also prompted comment from a leading technology analyst, Dan Ives of Yorkville, who called Wang a "special figure" and the "antithesis" of typical AI leaders.
In an interview with CNBC, Ives described Wang's joke-filled style on social media as a reflection of Meta's acquisition strategy and corporate culture. According to him, big technology companies need to preserve an entrepreneurial spirit to stay competitive in the AI arena. Ives also added that the AI revolution is still in the "third inning" and has turned into an arms race increasingly resembling "Game of Thrones", with investment reaching trillions of dollars.
Muse itself is a personal AI agent designed to handle everyday tasks such as booking travel, managing email, hunting for deals, and organizing schedules. Launched on 8 September, Muse is evidence of Meta's ambition to integrate AI into many aspects of users' lives. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg even appeared in a T-shirt reading 'Building Is My Love Language' while introducing VR glasses and a new AI agent at a developer conference in Menlo Park, reinforcing the company's image as casual yet serious about innovation.
Wang did not hesitate to show off Muse's various features through posts on X. In one post, he highlighted Muse's video chat feature, which can respond in real-time with a fluffy white dog avatar. In another post, he showed Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice, which can animate while talking with users. "Everything the model generates is watermarked as AI without adding latency. This is the foundation for realtime AI that will come to life across our products," he said. He also posted a meme editing Muse into a photo from the India AI summit featuring Sam Altman of OpenAI and Dario Amodei of Anthropic, though it was later deleted. The post triggered a viral reaction, with Indian entrepreneur Ankur Warikoo commenting, "You have won the internet today."
On the other hand, Zuckerberg also introduced Muse Charm, a compact handheld device that gives instant access to Muse through a screen, camera, microphone, and fingerprint sensor, without needing to unlock a phone. The move marks Meta's diversification into AI hardware, expanding the ecosystem beyond software. On platform Stocktwits, retail investor sentiment toward META shares was positive, with one user stating, "Meta nailed it with Muse and this is just the beginning." Another user judged that Muse Charm could be a game changer for those who want AI access without having to wear smart glasses or log in to an app.
For Indonesia, the launch of Muse and the Muse Charm device opens up both opportunities and challenges. The consumer AI market in the country is still dominated by cloud-based applications, while AI hardware such as Muse Charm could drive broader adoption if the price is affordable. However, digital infrastructure and regulatory readiness for data protection remain unfinished business. The presence of personal AI agents also has the potential to change the landscape of local digital services, from e-commerce to banking, through the efficiency they offer. Indonesian technology companies need to anticipate this wave, whether through partnerships or the development of similar products.
Going forward, the battle in AI is not only about technology, but also narrative and community. Wang's strategy of combining humor and product demonstrations is effective at building closeness with users, especially the younger generation. Will this approach become a new standard in AI marketing, or will it instead spark debate about the line between professionalism and virality? What is clear is that Meta continues to cement its position as a major player, and its next move will shape the direction of the industry.
