bank bjb has officially partnered with PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KAI Commuter) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Banking Services and a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, at the Depo KA Commuter Depok, West Java. The partnership marks a strategic step for bank bjb in expanding the reach of its banking and digital payment services, particularly in the public transport sector, which has a massive user base.
The signing was attended by the boards of directors of both companies, including KAI Commuter President Director Mochamad Purnomosidi, KAI Commuter Finance Director Nugroho Dwi Sasongko, bank bjb President Director Ayi Subarna, bank bjb Information Technology Director M. Asadi Budiman, and bank bjb Corporate and MSME Director Mulyana. The collaboration is not merely about banking transactions but is also aimed at building a service ecosystem that provides added value for public transport users and the wider community.
bank bjb Corporate Secretary Irwan Riswandi stated that the cooperation is an initial step to develop a broader and more strategic relationship. One concrete form being explored is the co-branding of the Kartu Multi Trip (KMT) between bank bjb and KAI Commuter. This scheme allows both parties to develop a KMT with a shared identity, strengthening the public transport payment ecosystem.
Beyond co-branding, bank bjb and KAI Commuter plan to develop a KMT top up channel through the bank bjb DIGI app. This step provides a more practical digital alternative for the public in meeting their travel needs. Not stopping there, bank bjb is also opening up the possibility of integrating DigiCash as a Source of Fund (SoF) in KAI Commuter's C-Access app, which is expected to broaden funding source options and deliver a more integrated transaction experience.
"Strengthening the digital payment ecosystem is one of the focuses in the planned cooperation between bank bjb and KAI Commuter. One of these is through the development of KMT top up services using the bank bjb DIGI app so that the public has a more practical digital channel alternative," said Irwan in an official statement, Wednesday (16/9/2026).
For bank bjb, this synergy is part of a strategy to expand the reach of its products and services by entering an ecosystem directly linked to people's daily activities. Public transport is seen as a strategic ecosystem because of the high intensity of interaction and transactions every day. Meanwhile, for KAI Commuter, banking service support is expected to strengthen the quality of the user experience, especially through ease of payment and the use of digital services.
The cooperation also has the potential to drive up digital transaction volume, which in turn contributes to the growth of bank bjb's fee based income. With KAI Commuter's network covering Jabodetabek, Merak, Bandung Raya, Garut, Yogyakarta-Palur, Surabaya, Walahar-Jatiluhur, and Soekarno-Hatta Airport, bank bjb has access to a very large and diverse user base.
In Jabodetabek in particular, the KAI Commuter KRL is the backbone of urban mobility with a user volume of around 350 million passengers per year. The size of the network and user base makes KAI Commuter a strategic partner in developing the digital transaction ecosystem. bank bjb sees this opportunity as a way to expand customer acquisition and strengthen its position in the digital payment market.
Going forward, bank bjb is committed to continuing to open up collaboration opportunities with various strategic partners to deliver integrated financial solutions, strengthen digital transformation, and make a real contribution to economic growth and improving people's quality of life. The partnership with KAI Commuter is one of the key pillars in realizing that vision.
