After four matches in this season's Champions League, three Bundesliga forwards—Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Ermedin Demirović (VfB Stuttgart), and Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund)—sit at the top of the scoring chart with four goals each. The three share the top spot with Erling Haaland and Donyell Malen (both former Dortmund players) and five other players averaging one goal per match in Europe's elite competition.
Kane, who has just won the 2025 Ballon d'Or, is once again showing his consistency. Although he has failed to score in his last three matches across all competitions, he remains a major threat. His four goals this season have come from eight shots on target, and since joining Bayern in 2023 he has collected 37 goals in 42 Champions League appearances—an average of 0.88 goals per match. That record makes him the top English scorer in the competition with 58 goals in total, ahead of Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, and Alan Shearer. His contribution this season also includes three assists, bringing him to seven goal involvements—a tally matched only by Malen and Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal.
At Stuttgart, Demirović has become a more efficient goal machine. With four goals in four matches, he scores every 42 minutes—the best rate among the three Bundesliga players. Last season he scored just one Champions League goal, but this season he has already surpassed his personal record, including his first European hat-trick in 12 minutes against Viking on the opening matchday. Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß hopes Demirović's sharpness continues, especially after he failed to score in the last two matches. Interestingly, former Bayern striker Nils Petersen believes Demirović performs better when he feels annoyed. “I think so. There were some things piling up inside me, but now I'm happy here,” Demirović said.
Meanwhile, Guirassy has become Dortmund's mainstay in the Champions League. His four goals—two braces against Villarreal and Sabah—came from six shots on target, showing remarkable sharpness. Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel praised him as a “machine” beyond doubt. Guirassy is now just two goals away from the top 50 all-time Champions League scorers. Nevertheless, he believes his team still needs to improve its efficiency. “I think we need too many chances. We could score more goals,” he said after the match against Sabah.
The dominance of this Bundesliga trio is no accident. Kane, Demirović, and Guirassy represent the quality of German clubs' front lines, which are increasingly sharp in European competition. Kane, with his experience and composure, remains a central figure for Bayern. Demirović and Guirassy, who are younger, show that the Bundesliga can produce goal-hungry strikers ready to compete at the highest level. Their presence at the top of the scoring chart is also a signal that the Bundesliga is not only about Bayern, but also about the collective strength of clubs that are increasingly competitive in Europe.
For Bayern, extending Kane's contract is a priority. The 32-year-old striker revealed that negotiations are going smoothly and only minor details remain. “The big things are agreed and we are happy with that, but in every contract there are many small things that the lawyers have to sort out. So, overall, it's faster than expected,” he said. Meanwhile, Demirović and Guirassy will be the pillars of their respective clubs as they look to continue their impressive Champions League form. With the competition still long, the race for the top scorer title will only get fiercer, and this Bundesliga trio is ready to prove they deserve to be counted.
