Veteran comedian Jon Lovitz has finally spoken out about Crystal Hefner's claims that he was one of the most depraved men in Hollywood and the most frequent guest at the Playboy Mansion. Rather than taking offense, Lovitz responded in classic comedian fashion: “Any time someone says I'm number one, that's a compliment.”
Lovitz made the statement when contacted by reporters outside a restaurant in Los Angeles, as reported by Page Six. He declined to address the details of Crystal's allegations but chose to defend the late Hugh Hefner. “Hugh Hefner was one of the kindest and most generous people I ever met, and all his friends know that,” he said. “That's all I can say.”
Crystal's claims surfaced in an interview on the podcast Lisa Guerrero Unleashed. The widow of the Playboy founder called Lovitz “one of the most depraved men” and claimed the 69-year-old comedian was almost always present at every party her husband hosted. “He would be there all the time,” Crystal said. She also claimed Lovitz's eyes “moved from front to back” watching every woman who entered the party. Crystal even called Lovitz a “creeper” and brought up Lovitz's pet dog, which she said relieved itself wherever it pleased.
This is not the first time the controversy has come up. Crystal has been actively exposing the dark side of life at the Playboy Mansion through her memoir and podcast. Besides Lovitz, she also mentioned a number of big names such as Jack Nicholson, Bill Maher, Berry Gordy, and Buzz Aldrin, who she said had been guests at the home of the adult magazine icon. However, the allegations against Lovitz drew attention because the comedian's response was seen as entertaining the public.
Amid the controversy, Lovitz's career continues. He recently appeared in Happy Gilmore 2, the comedy sequel starring Adam Sandler, after nearly three decades away from the franchise. Meanwhile, Crystal has now remarried marine biologist James Ward in a private ceremony in the Cook Islands in April 2026.
Indonesian audiences may know Lovitz from his role on Friends as Steve, the restaurant owner who interviews Monica Geller, or from his voice work on The Simpsons. The story behind the glamour of the Playboy Mansion also serves as a reminder that the global entertainment industry is inseparable from power relations and gender dynamics that are often debated. How the public judges Crystal's claims—as courage in lifting the veil, or merely sensation—will continue to be tested as new facts emerge.
