Epic Games has officially confirmed that One Piece will take center stage in the Fortnite mini-season titled Treasure Hunters, which will launch on 1 November. The confirmation also ends fans' long speculation after a series of teasers and mysterious posters appeared in a number of major cities around the world.
Previously, the Fortnite community was rattled by a poster in the Madrid subway showing a generic anime skin, sparking concerns that this Battle Pass would not feature a collaboration with a popular anime. However, Epic Games then released a teaser of the Going Merry ship on the Battle Royale island, confirming that the Straw Hat crew would sail into the Fortnite world. Now, wanted-style posters spread across London's Soho district reveal the four characters that will be available: Monkey D. Luffy and Portgas D. Ace from One Piece, plus Jonesy and Hope—original Fortnite characters—redesigned in anime style.
The move follows the pattern of the previous mini-season, which carried a The Simpsons theme, with a Battle Pass containing three iconic characters (Homer, Ned, and Marge) plus one Fortnite character turned into a Simpsons-style figure. Most likely, the four faces shown on the posters will be the skins players can obtain in the Treasure Hunters Battle Pass. With only days left before Chapter 7 Season 4 ends, Epic Games is expected to release the official look soon through its social media channels.
This collaboration is not just about selling skins. For Epic Games, bringing in One Piece—one of the best-selling manga franchises of all time—is a strategy to expand its player base into the global anime community. Fortnite has long been known as a "metaverse" that unites various intellectual properties, from Marvel to Star Wars, and One Piece adds to that long list. The move also has the potential to boost microtransaction revenue, especially ahead of the holiday season.
"We are always looking for ways to surprise players with unexpected collaborations. One Piece is a global phenomenon, and we are confident fans will welcome it enthusiastically," an Epic Games representative said in an official statement.
In Indonesia itself, One Piece has a very large fan base. The country's Fortnite community often looks forward to anime-themed collaboration content, and Luffy's presence in the Battle Pass is expected to increase the number of active players on Southeast Asian servers. Even so, challenges remain: can Epic Games maintain the balance between paid content and the free experience, given that criticism of the Battle Pass monetization model is increasingly common?
With the launch only days away, Fortnite players and One Piece fans around the world are preparing to welcome a new adventure. Will Treasure Hunters become one of the most successful mini-seasons, or will it draw criticism for being seen as too commercial? One thing is clear: Epic Games has once again proven that the line between the game world and pop culture is increasingly blurred.
