- The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum hampir menyelesaikan syuting, sementara The Shadow of the Past masih dalam tahap penulisan skenario.
- Kabar ini sekaligus membantah rumor bahwa proyek The Shadow of the Past terancam akibat merger Paramount dan Warner Bros.

After more than a decade of waiting, director Peter Jackson has finally given certainty about the sequel to The Adventures of Tintin. Speaking at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain, Jackson stated that the script for the second Tintin film is finished and that the film will be his next directing project. The statement reaffirms Jackson's commitment, which he had conveyed last May when he confirmed that a draft was complete and that he would take the director's chair.
The certainty is welcome news for Tintin fans who have long awaited the continuation of the Belgian reporter's adventures. The first film, The Adventures of Tintin, directed by Steven Spielberg and released in 2011, was a critical and commercial success. The sequel was once scheduled for release in 2014 or 2015, but various obstacles left the project delayed without certainty. Now, with a finished script, hopes for the sequel are open again.
Besides the Tintin news, Jackson also updated the progress of The Lord of the Rings projects. He confirmed that The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is nearly done filming, with about two weeks of shooting left. The film, directed by Andy Serkis, will tell the story of Aragorn's search for Gollum at Gandalf's request, before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring. Serkis will also reprise the iconic character. The film is scheduled for release on 17 December 2027.
Meanwhile, The Shadow of the Past is still in the scriptwriting stage. The film will be set 14 years after Frodo left Middle-earth for Valinor, with Sam, Merry, and Pippin retracing the early steps of their legendary adventure. The script is being developed by Stephen Colbert and Philippa Boyens. Jackson also denied rumors that the project was threatened by the merger between Paramount and Warner Bros.
For the global film industry, the announcement confirms that comic-book adaptations and epic fantasy franchises remain favorites. Tintin, created by Hergรฉ, has a loyal fan base worldwide, including in Indonesia. The long-awaited sequel could draw interest from cinemagoers in the country, especially the generation that grew up with translated Tintin comics. Meanwhile, The Lord of the Rings remains a magnet for fantasy film fans, and its new projects show that Middle-earth still holds strong appeal.
With the Tintin script finished and the Lord of the Rings projects underway, Peter Jackson looks set to be busy for the next few years. Still, challenges remain: can the Tintin sequel match the success of the first film, and will The Hunt for Gollum and The Shadow of the Past meet the expectations of devoted Tolkien fans? What is clear is that fans now have reason to look forward to the next update.
