FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 will officially be broadcast live by Emtek Group through five channels: Indosiar, SCTV, Vidio, Moji, and Nex Parabola. The appointment marks Emtek's first involvement in a regional football tournament listed on the official FIFA calendar, with broadcast reach projected to cover more than one billion potential viewers.
The inaugural edition of the tournament will take place from 24 September to 5 October 2026. A total of 14 countries are participating, consisting of 11 members of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) plus three invited teams: Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Hong Kong-China. The competition is divided into two levels: the Premier Division as the top tier and the Challenge Division as the second tier.
In the Premier Division, Indonesia has been entrusted as host of Group A, which also includes Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Singapore. All group matches will be held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta. Meanwhile, Group B, comprising Vietnam, Pakistan, Thailand, and the Philippines, will play at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung. The competition format does not include a semifinal round; the winner of Group A and the winner of Group B will meet directly in the final.
PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir assessed that the broadcast rights carry significant economic value. "If you look at the economics, the total potential viewers is roughly almost more than 1 billion, so that is a large number," he said during a ceremony at SCTV Tower, Central Jakarta, Monday (14/9/2026). He detailed that around 600 million come from Indonesia, plus hundreds of millions from Bangladesh and Pakistan, as well as the Hong Kong area and its surroundings.
On the team preparation side, 21 players took part in the Indonesian national team's training at Madya Stadium, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (22/9/2026). Rizky Eka Pratama, who received a late call-up, has joined the Garuda squad. The session is part of preparations for the tournament, which will kick off in a matter of days.
For Indonesia, hosting Group A of the Premier Division is not just about prestige. It is a golden opportunity to raise its FIFA world ranking, because every match result will count in the official FIFA points system. In addition, the tournament's presence is predicted to boost the tourism and local economy, especially in Jakarta and Bandung as match locations.
On the other hand, the Challenge Division will be centered in Hong Kong-China. Group A consists of Hong Kong-China, Laos, and Brunei Darussalam, while Group B features Cambodia, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste. This format gives lower-ranked countries a chance to compete at the regional level.
The success of live broadcasts on five Emtek channels will also be a test for Indonesia's digital broadcasting infrastructure. With such a huge potential audience, the quality of Vidio's streaming and Nex Parabola's reach will come under scrutiny. If successful, this could become a benchmark for other international tournament broadcast rights in the future.
The question is, can the Indonesian national team capitalize on its host status to claim the inaugural title and improve its FIFA ranking position? The answer will begin to emerge from 24 September.
