Garudayaksa FC Snatch Point at Persebaya's Home, Milos Joksic: We Deserved a Point

Garudayaksa FC successfully held host Persebaya Surabaya to a 1-1 draw in the continuation of the BRI Super League at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, Saturday (19/9/2026). Playing in a 4-3-3 formation, the visiting team had to work hard before finally equalizing near the end of the match.

Garudayaksa FC coach, Milos Joksic, stated that the match was fair and appreciated the performance of both teams. According to him, Persebaya was a tough opponent with an effective direct football style of play. "We played defensively because the opponent performed fantastically," Joksic said in the post-match press conference.

Joksic admitted that his team still has many shortcomings and is in the development process. He mentioned that not all positions are filled with capable players, and there are still additional players who will arrive to strengthen the starting eleven. "We are a team that is not yet at full strength," he added.

Nevertheless, the Serbian coach was satisfied with the single point earned. He believes his players fought maximally, ran hard, and were able to make quick transitions and counter-attacks to create chances. "We deserved one point because of the hard work of all the players," Joksic emphasized.

"I am very happy with this one point. We tried to make quick transitions. Quick counter-attacks to create something today. However, we couldn't stop Persebaya who played very well."

This draw is a positive signal for Garudayaksa FC, nicknamed the Spirit of Garuda. Although they have only collected one point from three matches, the team showed high fighting spirit and the ability to bounce back from pressure. Away fan support also provided additional energy for Joksic's squad.

On the other hand, Persebaya had to settle for sharing points in front of their home supporters. The home team actually dominated the match but failed to maintain their lead in the final minutes.
