- Mekanik Mercedes bergerak cepat mengatasi masalah rem depan mobil Kimi Antonelli beberapa menit sebelum formation lap GP Singapura 2026.

Chaos broke out on the starting grid at Marina Bay Circuit, Singapore, when the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team detected a critical problem with the front brake system of driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli's car just minutes before the formation lap was due to begin. The incident came to light as the young Italian driver prepared to start the race from fourth position.
According to trackside reports, several mechanics immediately swarmed the right front wheel and cockpit area to carry out a quick repair. Technicians were seen checking cooling ducts, hydraulic pressure, and tightening components at the front corner until the FIA warning siren ordered all personnel off the track. The situation was a nightmare for principal Toto Wolff, given that Antonelli's teammate, George Russell, had already slumped to 19th due to engine and electrical component penalties.
Marina Bay is known as one of the most brutal circuits for braking systems, with high temperatures and constant deceleration. If the brake problem is not resolved immediately, the risk of a fatal crash at Turn 1 becomes very real. The emergency repair carried out under time pressure must now be tested in full race conditions, while rivals such as Red Bull and Ferrari stand ready to exploit any gap to close the distance in the standings.
"There was a late problem on Kimi Antonelli's car on the grid," the trackside report said. "Mercedes mechanics are working in quite a panic to fix it."
For Mercedes, the incident adds pressure to an already difficult race. With Russell having to start from the back, the team's entire points hope rests on Antonelli. A failure to finish because of the brakes would be a major blow to the 19-year-old driver's 84-point advantage, opening the door for Verstappen and Ferrari to fight back.
Although Antonelli managed to get going when the lights went green, the success of the emergency repair remains in question. The long and demanding Marina Bay Circuit will test the durability of components that were just handled in a rush. If the brake problem resurfaces, it is not impossible that Mercedes could lose valuable points and championship momentum.
Looking ahead, the Mercedes team needs to evaluate its emergency procedures and the reliability of the W17 car. Is a quick repair on the grid enough to face 62 full laps? Only on-track performance can answer that.
