Persija Jakarta secured a 4-0 rout of PSIM Yogyakarta in the fourth week of the 2026/2027 BRI Super League at Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul, on Saturday (10/10/2026) afternoon WIB. The result saw Macan Kemayoran sweep their first four matches and collect 12 points at the top of the provisional standings.
Persija coach Shin Tae-yong admitted he was surprised by his team's performance. He had expected a difficult match, but the players were disciplined and aggressive from the opening minutes. "We got a good result. Actually, I expected this match to be one of the difficult ones," Shin said after the match. "But beyond expectations, the players worked hard from the start and showed a very good performance."
The win did not come without obstacles. In the first half, Persija struggled to break down PSIM's tight defensive organization. Shin noted that both teams were still in prime physical condition, which made chances harder to create. "When both teams still have good physical condition, it is certainly not easy to score. Moreover, the opponent played with a tight defensive organization," he said.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 76th minute through Alexander Jeremejeff. Stjepan Loncar then added two goals in the 80th and 90+2nd minutes, while Kwon Chang-hoon completed the scoring spree in the 86th minute. Shin specifically praised Loncar's performance. "Loncar played very well and had a nearly perfect match. His two goals brought a big change for the team," he added.
"This was a very difficult match. But we carried out all the coach's instructions. We have trained hard all week to earn this important win." โ Stjepan Loncar, Persija midfielder.
From the opposing camp, PSIM Yogyakarta had to accept a heavy defeat in front of their own supporters. Even so, their resistance in the first half made things difficult for Persija. Loncar acknowledged PSIM were not an easy opponent. "We have to keep going on this path," he stressed.
The win reaffirms Persija's position as one of the strong title contenders in the BRI Super League this season. Four consecutive wins without dropping a single point are valuable capital for the packed schedule ahead. For Shin Tae-yong, consistency is key. "We have to keep maintaining our focus and hard work," he concluded.
The question now is: can Persija maintain this positive trend, or will they stumble when facing the top teams? The real test will only become clear in the coming weeks.
