Residents of Kampung Purwa Jaya, Banjar Margo District, Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung, were shocked by the discovery of three bodies in one house on Monday (5/10) morning. The three were a nuclear family: a father, a mother, and their child. Police strongly suspect all three were victims of murder.
The incident was first noticed by residents at around 08.30 WIB. The bodies were found at the victims' home. As of this report, police officers were still processing the crime scene (TKP) to collect evidence and question a number of witnesses.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tulang Bawang Police, AKP Apfryyadi Pratama, confirmed the incident. According to him, the initial investigation points to an alleged criminal act of murder. "We are still looking for evidence and questioning a number of witnesses," he said when confirmed on Monday.
Apfryyadi added that after the crime scene processing is completed, the three bodies will be taken to a hospital for an autopsy. This step is important to medically determine the cause of death, which will later serve as one piece of evidence in the investigation.
From witness statements, police said they had obtained a picture of the suspected perpetrator's identity. "A suspicion has emerged from witness statements, and the team is still pursuing this," Apfryyadi stressed. He has not elaborated further on the motive or the relationship between the perpetrator and the victims.
This case adds to the long list of domestic violence or crimes targeting a single family in Indonesia. Although statistically such crimes are not classified as frequent, their impact always shakes the surrounding community. Residents at the scene are urged to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands.
Police have not provided an official statement on the exact chronology, including whether any valuables are missing or whether there were signs of resistance. Investigators also have not confirmed whether the perpetrator was a single person or more than one.
"After the crime scene processing is completed, the plan is to take them to the hospital for an autopsy," said AKP Apfryyadi Pratama.
Residents nearby hope police can quickly arrest the perpetrator and uncover the motive behind this incident. Neighborhood security is a main concern, especially since the scene is in a relatively quiet residential area.
As of this report, there is no further information on the results of the crime scene processing or any arrest. The newsroom will continue to monitor developments in this case.
