National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto is scheduled to inaugurate a number of senior officials (PJU) and regional police chiefs (Kapolda) at the Rupatama Building at National Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Saturday (3/10) evening. The ceremony marks a new chapter in the leadership of the National Police after a major rotation involving 88 high- and mid-ranking officers.
The Head of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, confirmed the inauguration agenda. Although he did not detail who would be inaugurated tonight, he confirmed the event would take place within National Police Headquarters.
The reshuffle is set out in National Police Chief Telegram Letter Number ST/2205/X/KEP./2026 dated 2 October 2026. Of the 88 personnel affected by the rotation, 70 received promotions or took up new posts. The rest were moved to other positions at an equivalent level or as part of an organizational refresh.
In the National Police Headquarters PJU ranks, 14 personnel received new assignments. Among the prominent names are Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri, appointed as National Police Inspector General of Supervision (Irwasum), Inspector General Dedy Kusuma Bakti as Head of the Intelligence and Security Agency (Kabaintelkam), and Inspector General Asep Safrudin as Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Kabareskrim).
In addition, Inspector General Mahmud Nazly Harahap was entrusted with the post of Head of the Profession and Security Division (Kadivpropam), Inspector General Roberto G. M. Pasaribu as Head of the Information and Communication Technology Division (Kadiv TIK), and Brigadier General Tubagus Ami Prindani as Head of Detachment 88 Anti-Terror (Kadensus 88 AT).
"The information was confirmed by the Head of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko. The inauguration is being held at the Rupatama Building at National Police Headquarters," read an official statement quoted from a source.
The rotation also touched 19 Kapolda posts. Several strategic regions saw changes, such as the Metro Jaya Police Chief, now held by Inspector General Dadang, the Maluku Police Chief Inspector General Suwondo Nainggoan, and the Riau Islands Police Chief Inspector General Suhendri. The change in the metropolitan jurisdiction drew attention because it is directly tied to security management in the capital and its surrounding areas.
In the Indonesian context, a major reshuffle within the National Police is not merely an internal matter. The replacement of the Kabareskrim, Kabaintelkam, and Kadivpropam, for instance, will shape the direction of law enforcement, internal oversight, and counter-terrorism strategy in the coming years. The public and businesses usually watch these positions closely because they affect the investment climate, legal certainty, and security stability.
Police observers view this rotation as an organizational consolidation step ahead of a packed national agenda. Even so, its effectiveness will depend on how far the new officials can accelerate bureaucratic reform and respond to public criticism of police performance, especially on transparency and accountability.
With tonight's inauguration, the leadership lineup in many work units will soon change. The question is whether this rotation will strengthen the professionalism of the National Police or instead create new internal dynamics. The public will be waiting for concrete action from the newly inaugurated officials.
