Persib Bandung have officially launched a new jersey for the ASEAN Club Championship 2026/2027, marking Maung Bandung's first step into the Southeast Asian inter-club competition. The launch took place on Thursday (24/9/2026) and symbolizes the team's readiness to embrace a new challenge after winning the BRI Super League 2025/2026 season.
Persib's journey in the ASEAN Club Championship will begin on 8 October 2026, when they travel to Port FC's home ground in Bangkok, Thailand. The match will be an early test for Igor Tolic's squad to gauge their competitiveness at the regional level. Deputy CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat, Adhitia Putra Herawan, stressed that participation in Asia is not merely about matches, but also about the club's identity and pride.
"For Persib, playing in Asia is not just about matches on the pitch. There is identity, pride, and the support of Bobotoh that are part of this journey. That is why we carry the spirit of Edankeun di Asia in every competition we play, including the ACL Two and the Shopee Cup," said Adhitia.
The new jersey comes in two main designs, Home and Away, each available for outfield players and goalkeepers. The Home jersey is dominated by blue with a soundwave pattern depicting the resonance of Bobotoh's support that keeps echoing. Meanwhile, the Away jersey combines blue and white with a checkered pattern, representing togetherness and collectivity.
Commercially, the jersey launch is an important moment for Persib to expand its market reach. The jersey will be sold ready stock through the Persib Store on Jalan Sulanjana No. 17, Bandung, as well as branches in various regions and other official channels. The move aligns with the club's strategy to monetize its large fan base, especially amid growing interest in regional competitions.
For Indonesian football, Persib's participation in the ASEAN Club Championship could serve as a barometer of the competitiveness of clubs from the country in Southeast Asia. The event is also an opportunity to raise the visibility of the domestic league and attract the attention of sponsors and investors. However, the challenge is no light one: clubs from Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia have often dominated regional competitions, so Persib need to prepare thoroughly, both tactically and physically.
The arrival of this new jersey is expected to spur the enthusiasm of players and supporters. With a design that reflects Bandung's identity, Persib aim to make every match in Asia a stage to showcase the quality of Indonesian football. The question is, can Persib translate this ambition into achievement on the pitch and carry Indonesia's name in regional competition?
