Garudayaksa FC's management is targeting a surge in attendance at Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong, West Java, after their first home match in the BRI Super League 2026/2027 drew only 386 people. That figure came when the team nicknamed Spirit of Garuda hosted Persik Kediri on Friday (11/9/2026), a match they lost 0-2. Even so, the management considers the turnout reasonable for a promoted team that does not yet have an established supporter base.
This season marks a historic milestone for Garudayaksa FC as they compete in the top tier for the first time after winning the Pegadaian Championship (Liga 2) 2025/2026. The promotion brings new consequences: greater demand for spectator support, especially from residents of Cibinong and its surroundings. However, match organizer data shows the spectator composition at the match against Persik was split between the east stand (Gate 7) with 328 people and West VIP with 58 people. That number is not much different from the first home match last season in Liga 2, but far below the last home match against Persikad Depok, which reached around 4,000 spectators.
The management hopes the arrival of big teams such as Borneo FC, Persebaya Surabaya, Persija Jakarta, and Persib Bandung on the upcoming home schedule can boost attendance. Commercially, higher stadium occupancy will affect ticket revenue, merchandise, and sponsor exposure. However, the main challenge is building a culture of watching local football in Cibinong, which has so far been more focused on metropolitan clubs.
On the other hand, the performance of the team coached by Milos Joksic has been relatively stable for a promoted side. From three matches, they have earned two draws and one defeat. In the opening match, Garudayaksa held Java United FC to a 1-1 draw at Stadion Jatidiri, Semarang. The defeat to Persik Kediri was a valuable lesson, before they again stole a point away at Persebaya Surabaya with a 1-1 score. This consistency is important capital for attracting spectator interest, because competitive performance is often the main factor behind supporter attendance.
"Most of the players are currently in the dormitory. Those who have families are mostly with their families. What is certain is that training resumes on Thursday," said Respati Agung Nugroho, Media Officer of Garudayaksa FC.
Coach Milos Joksic chose not to give the players a long break. They are scheduled to return to training on Thursday (24/9/2026) to prepare for the away match against Persita Tangerang at Banten International Stadium, Serang, on 10 October 2026. The mission of securing the first three points is the main target, as well as a confidence boost before playing again in front of their own supporters.
Going forward, Garudayaksa FC's success in filling Pakansari depends not only on results on the pitch, but also on promotion strategy and community engagement. Can the management turn 386 spectators into thousands in the near future? The answer will be seen in their concrete steps to attract a new supporter base in Cibinong and its surroundings.
