PlayStation has officially announced a collaboration with Lisa BLACKPINK to introduce a limited edition DualSense controller and an exclusive merchandise line. The product launch is scheduled for October 30, with pre-orders opening earlier on October 2 at 10:00 AM ET. This partnership marks a strategic move by Sony to expand its gaming market reach to the global music fan community.
The controller features a Chroma Pearl color, Lisa's favorite choice, with personalized design touches including engravings of Lisa's bangs and eyes on the touchpad, and her signature near the right analog stick. According to the official announcement, the controller will retail for $84.99 in the United States, €84.99 in Europe, and £74.99 in the United Kingdom. However, the collaborative merchandise will only be available in the United States, while fans in Europe and the UK will only have access to the controller.
This is not Lisa's first involvement in the gaming industry. Since 2025, she has appeared in Sony advertisements showcasing her favorite games and was a headliner for Fortnite Festival Season 12 from November 2025 to February 2026. Lisa is known as a gamer, making her involvement in designing this controller feel authentic. The collaboration also includes two batches of merchandise designed by Lisa herself, covering apparel, hats, tote bags, keychains, stickers, and even a special bag for the DualSense. Some products can be ordered through the PlayStation website and will be released alongside the controller on October 30, while the rest will be sold on Lisa's official Amazon store on October 23, coinciding with the release of her latest EP, Press Play.
"I'm incredibly excited to design my own controller. It's like a dream come true," Lisa stated in her official announcement.
Unfortunately, limited edition launches are often marred by scalping practices. Previously, a special edition Grand Theft Auto 6 controller appeared on eBay at double its retail price, even before the product sold out. This phenomenon is a nightmare for buyers who want to acquire items at a fair price. Therefore, prospective buyers are advised to pre-order immediately once it opens on October 2 at 10:00 AM ET. Acting quickly is key to avoiding inflated prices in the secondary market.
For fans in Indonesia, this collaboration raises questions about product availability in the local market. As of now, there is no official information regarding distribution in Southeast Asia. Given the large K-pop fan base in Indonesia, demand for this controller is predicted to be high. However, without official distribution channels, fans in the country might have to resort to purchasing through scalpers or importers at significantly higher prices. This situation reflects a broader challenge in the global gaming industry, where access to limited editions is often uneven.
Looking ahead, collaborations between gaming brands and K-pop stars like this could become a more frequent trend. Both Sony and Lisa benefit: PlayStation expands its fan base, while Lisa strengthens her image as a cross-industry icon. However, long-term success will depend on how companies address scalping issues and ensure fair distribution. Will such collaborations become a new standard in game marketing, or merely a fleeting strategy? Time will tell, but for now, fans worldwide are preparing to scramble for this limited edition controller.
