Dewa United concluded the third week of the BRI Super League 2026/2027 with a 2-1 victory over PSS Sleman at Banten International Stadium on Sunday (20/9/2026). This result propelled them to the top of the temporary standings with 10 points from four matches, recording three wins and one draw. However, this position does not make coach Osmar Loss feel secure.
In the post-match press conference, Osmar reminded that his team had played one more match than their main rivals. According to him, the additional three points from the match against PSS Sleman were very significant as they created a temporary gap at the top. "We started the season well, but we are aware that other teams haven't played as many matches as us. Therefore, this victory is crucial," said the Brazilian coach.
Consistency is the keyword Osmar continues to emphasize. He refused to speculate about championship chances and chose to focus on match by match. "We know this is a long journey until week 34. Our goal is to perform optimally and earn points in the next match. Our focus is always on the nearest game," he asserted.
From a statistical perspective, Dewa United's attacking line has shown sharpness by consistently scoring in every match. However, conceding four goals is homework that needs to be addressed during the league break. Osmar realizes that other teams will be increasingly astute in analyzing his squad's strengths and weaknesses.
"I know teams analyze each other and try to control the opponent's strongest points. Our idea is to take it game by game and give our best performance. If we can win, we will continue to stay at the top," said Osmar.
The BRI Super League will enter a three-week break due to the FIFA Matchday schedule. Dewa United will only return to play on October 11, 2026, against Persib Bandung at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) Stadium. Osmar will use this break to conduct evaluations and prepare new strategies. "We have time to rest and work again. When we play against Persib, maybe we can show something different," he added.
The top position in the standings indeed provides a psychological advantage, but it also invites its own pressure. Dewa United must prove that their consistency is not merely a schedule effect. With 30 weeks still remaining in the competition, the real test will only become apparent in the coming weeks. Can they maintain momentum, or will they falter as the pressure mounts?
