- Aston Villa dan Newcastle United dikabarkan telah menghubungi Fiorentina untuk menjajaki transfer gelandang Cher Ndour.
- Fiorentina menetapkan banderol sekitar โฌ35 juta (Rp560 miliar) dan masih memiliki kontrak pemain hingga 2029.
- Ketertarikan pada Ndour mencerminkan tren perburuan gelandang muda bertalenta di bursa transfer Eropa.

Two English Premier League clubs, Aston Villa and Newcastle United, are reported to have submitted official requests to Fiorentina to sign young midfielder Cher Ndour. This move marks a new chapter in the competition for one of the most promising talents in Serie A, with several other clubs also reportedly queuing up to monitor the situation.
According to a TEAMtalk report, Aston Villa has sent an official inquiry regarding Ndour's availability. Not only Villa, Newcastle United, Brighton, Crystal Palace, and Hull City are also reported to have made contact with Fiorentina. This situation makes Ndour's future in Italy increasingly uncertain, especially given his performances that have continued to rise since joining La Viola in 2025.
Fiorentina itself has no intention of letting the 22-year-old go for a cheap price. The Florence-based club is reported to have set a price of around โฌ35 million (approximately Rp560 billion). Although that figure is quite high, Fiorentina's position is strong because Ndour is still under contract until 2029. However, there is another factor that could influence negotiations: Paris Saint-Germain, a club Ndour once played for, still holds a 50 percent sell-on clause.
Ndour is not a completely unfamiliar name in European football. He trained at the Benfica and Paris Saint-Germain academies before eventually breaking into the first team. With Fiorentina, he recorded 33 appearances in Serie A last season, scoring three goals and averaging 1.7 successful tackles per 90 minutes. His ability to cover the midfield and his composure on the ball have led him to be regarded as a modern midfielder suited to the intensity of the Premier League.
"Ndour has an interesting profile, similar to Ryan Gravenberch. A central midfielder who is 6 feet 3 inches tall yet moves nimbly like a smaller player. He is capable of covering a lot of ground and is very comfortable using both feet, both for passing and shooting, making him difficult to press," said Ben Mattinson, a Como football analyst, as quoted by Football FanCast.
For Aston Villa, the interest in Ndour is not without reason. After losing Youri Tielemans to Manchester United, the midfield became an area that needed strengthening. Villa already brought in Johan Manzambi last summer, who happens to share the same agent as Ndour. However, manager Unai Emery seems to still be looking for additional options to strengthen squad depth, especially after the team's up-and-down performances at the start of the season. The 3-1 win over Coventry City in the League Cup on Wednesday night is a sign of recovery, but consistency remains a work in progress.
On the other hand, Newcastle United is also building a long-term project. The club owned by a Saudi Arabian consortium wants to add quality to the midfield to compete in domestic and European competitions. Ndour, with experience playing in Portugal, France, Turkey, and Italy, is seen as a promising investment. Brighton and Crystal Palace, known for their prowess in developing young players, also do not want to miss out. Hull City, currently competing in the Championship, might offer more playing time, but the allure of the Premier League remains greater.
For readers in Indonesia, this transfer saga reflects how European clubs are increasingly aggressive in hunting young midfielders with prices that continue to skyrocket. This phenomenon can also be a lesson for Liga 1 clubs wanting to develop young players: the importance of having strong analytical data and a wide scouting network. Additionally, the existence of PSG's sell-on clause shows how big clubs are now cleverly securing long-term profits from players they release.
Going forward, will Aston Villa actually make an official offer, or is it just an exploratory move? With competition getting tighter, Ndour's decision could be one of the determinants of his career direction. If he chooses to move to the Premier League, will he be able to shine as many observers predict? Time will tell, but one thing is certain: the winter transfer window will be even hotter.
