DPD RI Submits 2027 Budget Bill Considerations, Finance Minister Suahasil: The Timing Is Very Right

Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara expressed appreciation for the considerations of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) RI on the Draft Law on the 2027 Fiscal Year State Budget, and assessed that the moment of the document's submission coincided with the schedule of intensive deliberations between the government and the House of Representatives (DPR) RI. The statement was made by Suahasil after attending the 2nd Extraordinary Plenary Session of DPD RI for the First Session Period of the 2026–2027 Session Year in Jakarta, Wednesday.

In the session, DPD RI adopted official considerations on the 2027 State Budget Bill as the implementation of its constitutional function. The document was prepared by DPD RI Committee IV through a series of discussions with ministries/institutions, regional governments, and the gathering of aspirations from various regions. A number of issues that became the main focus included transfers to regions, infrastructure development, village funds, and regional fiscal capacity.

For Suahasil, the involvement of DPD RI is not merely a constitutional formality. He assessed that input from the regional representative institution enriches the perspective in formulating fiscal policy, especially because the government is currently discussing the 2027 State Budget Bill with DPR RI. "These considerations from the DPD are given at a very right time, because we are indeed on the schedule of discussing the 2027 State Budget Bill with DPR RI. These considerations become input material that reflects aspirations from the regions," he said.

Suahasil emphasized that the government will pay attention to every point of DPD RI's considerations and bring them to the negotiating table with DPR RI. "The considerations submitted will become input that we pay very, very close attention to and become part of the discussions with DPR RI," said the State Treasurer. He also expressed gratitude for DPD RI's invitation to the plenary session, which he assessed as a healthy practice of state governance because it presents perspectives from all regions.
