Tim McGraw has finally spoken out about reports claiming he performed at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding. On Esquire's What I've Learned podcast, the 59-year-old country singer stressed that he attended only as a guest, not as a performer. “I didn't perform at the wedding. It's just a rumor. Surprise! The internet isn't always right,” he said, as quoted from the interview.
Swift and Kelce's wedding, held at Madison Square Garden in New York last July, indeed drew worldwide attention. Several big names, such as Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks, were reported to have entertained the crowd at the event. However, McGraw confirmed that he was not on the list of performers. He and his wife, Faith Hill, attended with their three daughters, Grace, Maggie, and Audrey.
Despite denying that he sang, McGraw was generous in his praise for Swift. He called the singer of “Patient Zero” a special figure who has long been close to his family. “Taylor has always been close to our family, to our girls. She's been to the house and spent time with them,” McGraw said. McGraw and Swift share a long history. In 2007, Swift, then still a teenager, joined a tour with McGraw and Faith Hill. McGraw recalled how he and his wife often talked with Swift about her career ambitions. “She was so smart about figuring out the music industry and how to navigate it all. We felt she was a special artist and a special person, and we still feel that way. We're so happy she found Travis, who is also a cool guy,” he said.
