Apple Prepares Two Back-to-Back Launches: OLED Touchscreen MacBook Pro to New iPad Mini

Apple is reportedly preparing a second product launch event within the same month, around October 27, just two weeks after the 'Welcome Home' event on October 13 focused on smart home devices. According to a Bloomberg report cited by Benzinga, the agenda could be the stage for a new-generation MacBook Pro with an OLED display and touch capability โ a shift in direction Apple has long avoided on its laptop line.
The two models said to be in preparation carry the internal names K114 and K116. Both are expected to feature a thinner and lighter body than the current version, and to adopt the Dynamic Island interface previously associated with the iPhone. Earlier rumors suggested the device would be called MacBook Ultra, but the latest report confirms the product remains under the Pro line umbrella.
Besides the MacBook Pro, Apple is said to be introducing an iPad mini with an OLED panel and a lineup of M6-powered Macs, including a 14-inch MacBook Pro and an iMac. The new iPad mini is reported to bring a landscape-oriented front camera for better video call quality, plus a redesigned speaker system. Apple has not provided an official response to requests for comment regarding these plans.
For the Indonesian market, this signal matters because Apple does not yet have its own official store in the country, so every global launch is usually followed by a wave of units entering through authorized distributors and parallel channels. Mac users in Indonesia โ from creative workers and software developers to design students โ will feel the impact in the form of potentially lower resale prices for older devices, as well as supply queues that often lag several months behind the global launch.
Apple's move to bring a touchscreen to the MacBook Pro is seen as an acknowledgment that the boundary between tablets and laptops is increasingly blurred, especially when competitors such as Microsoft Surface and a number of Windows manufacturers have already offered hybrid devices.
Strategically, this decision marks a shift in Apple's design philosophy. For years the Cupertino-based company insisted that touchscreens were not suitable for laptops, and instead encouraged users to turn to the iPad for direct input needs. The arrival of OLED in the MacBook Pro also answers long-standing criticism about the limitations of mini-LED panels, particularly in terms of contrast ratio and power efficiency โ two factors that are increasingly crucial as artificial intelligence-based workloads on local devices grow.
On the supply chain side, large-volume demand for OLED panels for laptops could benefit display manufacturers in East Asia, including suppliers that also provide panels for the iPhone. For consumers, the transition to OLED usually implies a higher selling price in the first generation, before eventually falling once production reaches economies of scale. A similar pattern was seen when Apple moved the iPad Pro to OLED displays in 2024.
What should be noted is that this report still comes from people familiar with internal plans and has not been officially confirmed. Apple has a track record of delaying or changing product plans ahead of launch. But if the October 27 schedule truly materializes, it will be one of Apple's busiest quarters in recent years โ two major events within a 14-day span.
The question now is: will the Indonesian market be one of the early waves of distribution, or will it again wait in line after the United States, Europe, and neighboring countries in Southeast Asia? The answer will determine how quickly users here can get their hands on the first touchscreen MacBook Pro in history.
