Marvel Rivals has officially confirmed the biggest PvE mode in the game's history: Path to Doomsday – Avengers: Endgame, which will bring together 50 players in a single battle against Thanos and his army. The mode is scheduled to launch on October 22, marking the peak of Season 10.5, which is packed with collaborative content ahead of the release of the film Avengers: Doomsday.
Unlike previous PvE events that involved only four players, such as the Halloween-themed Zombie Mode, this new mode offers a far more massive scale. Marvel Rivals Creative Director Guangyun Chen—better known as Gaungguang—said the battle will take place in the ruins of the Avengers Compound, with players facing Thanos and his forces directly. He also hinted that iconic moments from the film, including the line "I am inevitable", will be reproduced in the game.
Beyond the main mode, Season 10.5 also brings the Infinity War mode on October 9. This 2v2 mode lets duos pick ability upgrades while trying to seize the opposing team's Infinity Stones, which grant significant power. That is not all: on October 15, players will get Halloween-themed skins for a number of characters, alongside the All Hallows Glow event. Then, on October 29, Night of Illusions arrives as a "thrilling and tense interactive puzzle experience", according to Gaungguang—something never before seen in Marvel Rivals.
A new map for the 18v18 Annihilation mode, Alchemax Headquarters, will also be added. Even so, NetEase's decision to release only one new character in Season 10—Gorr the God Butcher—drew some disappointment. After all, over the past eight seasons (nearly a year and a half), the game had consistently introduced a new hero every month. That tradition has now ended, but the developers appear to be trying to make up for it with an abundance of other content.
Strategically, NetEase's move reflects a shift in focus from roster expansion to diversifying the play experience. Large-scale PvE modes and interactive puzzles show an effort to reach a broader audience, including casual players who may be reluctant to compete in competitive modes. For the Indonesian market, where Marvel Rivals already has a solid player base, content like this could extend the game's life cycle and boost community engagement—especially with the arrival of cooperative modes that require many players to work together.
"We want players to experience the epic moments they have only ever watched on the big screen," Gaungguang said in a Dev Vision video, adding that the mode is designed to deliver a cinematic experience in-game.
With such closely spaced release dates, October will be a busy month for Marvel Rivals. The question is whether this massive content strategy is enough to make up for the absence of a new hero, or whether it will instead fuel higher expectations for character updates in the next season.
