Gypsy Rose Blanchard expressed her belief that her partner, Ken Urker, died of an overdose. Urker was found dead at a home in Raceland, Louisiana, on Thursday (1/10/2026), on what would have been his 34th birthday. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed the discovery of the body and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Gypsy Rose said Urker is suspected of having consumed an unknown substance. "I don't know if it was intentional or not. He was not in a good mental state lately," she said. She also said she was deeply shaken and unable to think clearly. To TMZ, Gypsy Rose stressed that Urker did not have a drug problem and that she had never seen him use illicit drugs. She said an unknown substance was found at the scene, which led her to suspect it was the cause of death.
Urker and Gypsy Rose first met through letters in 2017, when Gypsy Rose was still serving an eight-year prison sentence for her role in the murder of her mother, Clauddine "Dee Dee" Blanchard. They got engaged in October 2018, briefly separated, then got back together in August 2019. After several years apart, Gypsy Rose married Ryan Anderson, but the couple separated in 2024. Gypsy Rose then got back together with Urker and gave birth to their daughter, Aurora, in December 2024. The two appeared on the Lifetime show, Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup.
In her statement, Gypsy Rose described Urker as "an amazing father and a very loved man." She called Urker her soulmate and hoped his death would serve as a reminder of the real impact of online pressure and harassment. "The cruelty directed at him is something no human being should have to experience. I believe the heavy burden of the scrutiny and harassment greatly affected him," she said.
This case highlights the issue of mental health among public figures facing online pressure. In Indonesia, a similar phenomenon often occurs, with many celebrities and public figures experiencing stress due to negative comments on social media. Nevertheless, there is no official data directly linking online harassment and overdose deaths in Indonesia. However, it is important for digital platforms and society to pay more attention to communication ethics in cyberspace.
The investigation into Urker's death is still ongoing. Authorities have not released autopsy results or further information about the substance found. Meanwhile, Gypsy Rose is reported to be grieving and caring for their daughter. The public awaits clarity on the cause of death, as well as a reflection on how social pressure in cyberspace can have fatal consequences.
