Samsung One UI 9 Finally Rolls Out to Galaxy S26 and S25, but Indonesia Is Still Waiting

After a series of delays that kept users waiting since early September, Samsung has finally begun distributing the stable One UI 9 update to a number of Galaxy phones. The first wave targets the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra in the United States through carrier T-Mobile, with a download size of around 4GB. Meanwhile, in South Korea, the Galaxy S25 series and the foldables Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 received the same update earlier.

This rollout is late compared with the initial target. Samsung initially promised One UI 9 on 16 September for South Korea, then moved the schedule to 21 September, and pushed it back again to 28 September. When those dates passed, Samsung's news division in Thailand even removed the specific date and only said "within September". Now, some users in the US—particularly those using carrier-locked devices—have reported receiving the download notification.

Interestingly, this update does not only target the flagship line. Samsung update tracker Tarun Vats found stable One UI 9 builds for a large number of Galaxy A devices, from A57, A37, A56, A36, A55, A35, to A34. The A line is the backbone of Samsung's sales, so the presence of these builds indicates the company is preparing to expand distribution to a much larger user base. The existence of a build for the Galaxy A34—which never joined the beta program—is a positive signal that older mid-range devices will also get it.

Several newly confirmed features include My FanCam, Now Nudge, Warranty and Care, Security Brief, and an expansion of Scam Detection. Galaxy S25 and Z Fold 7 users who joined the beta program have already enjoyed most of those features, but general users are still waiting for the stable release. It is not yet clear whether all devices receiving One UI 9 will get every feature, given that A-series devices will likely only get certain AI-based tools tailored to their chipset and RAM. Meanwhile, flagship and foldable devices appear set to receive the full package, except for Google's main AI tools.

"This delay looks more like a distribution issue than an unfinished update," said an industry observer, given the large number of stable builds already stored on Samsung's servers.

For users in Indonesia, this news is worth watching. Samsung usually releases updates in South Korea first, followed by other regions within days. However, there has been no official confirmation from Samsung Indonesia regarding a definite schedule for One UI 9's arrival in the country. If it follows the previous pattern, Galaxy S25, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 users in Indonesia can hope the update arrives in the coming weeks, though it will most likely not be simultaneous with the US or Korea. Users are advised to check the Settings > Software Update > Download and Install menu periodically.

The arrival of One UI 9 in the global market is a test for Samsung in maintaining user trust after the delayed schedule. The company has not openly explained the cause of the delay, but the length of testing and the number of stable builds ready for release indicate that the main obstacle is not development, but rollout logistics. If Samsung is consistent with its latest statement, the update for the Galaxy S26 in other regions as well as the Galaxy S25, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 will follow before the end of September. However, if it slips again, October will be the next target—and users in Indonesia can only hope they are not delayed along with it.
