US Bitcoin ETFs Return to Green Zone, US$5.8 Billion Deficit Erased in Three Months

US$85.000, didorong ekspektasi likuiditas global usai kebijakan pembelian obligasi Pemerintah AS.
- Meski positif, torehan tahun ini masih jauh di bawah rekor 2024 dan 2025, sehingga keberlanjutan reli bergantung pada konsistensi arus dana dan sentimen makro global.

Investment flows into spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) listed on United States exchanges have turned around. After sinking to a US$5.8 billion deficit on July 13, these products now record net inflows approaching US$800 million for the year-to-date period, according to SoSoValue data analyzed by CoinDesk.
The reversal did not happen overnight. Over the past few weeks, investors have again placed large sums into the instruments, making them one of the fastest-recovering sectors in the digital asset market. The surge coincided with a recovery in the Bitcoin price, which now sits around US$85,000, after previously being pressured below US$58,000 in early June.
Several analysts view the combination of rising prices and heavy fund flows into ETFs as a signal that a new bullish phase has begun. However, they also caution that the recovery remains fragile compared with the scale of capital that entered in previous periods.
The main driver comes from liquidity policy in the United States. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in August announced increased purchases of government bonds, a liquidity management instrument launched when bond yields spiked to their highest level in years. Since that announcement, nearly US$4 billion has flowed into Bitcoin ETFs, according to market records.
Nevertheless, investors should note that the current record six-day inflow streak of US$2.84 billion still trails two similar periods in 2024. On February 22โ29, 2024, inflows reached US$2.35 billion, while on November 6โ13, 2024, they hit US$4.73 billionโnearly double the latest figure.
"The market is testing how strong institutional demand for Bitcoin is amid macro uncertainty. The US$800 million figure is positive, but it is not enough to conclude that the bullish trend has structurally returned," said a digital asset market analyst who did not wish to be named.
For Indonesian investors, the dynamics of US Bitcoin ETFs have indirect implications for the domestic crypto market. Although Bappebti has not yet allowed Bitcoin ETF products to be traded on local exchanges, global sentiment often spills over to domestic exchange platforms. A rise in the Bitcoin price is usually followed by higher trading volume for crypto assets in Indonesia, especially for highly correlated altcoins.
In addition, US liquidity policy through bond purchases could weaken the US dollar, which has historically been a positive catalyst for risk assets including crypto. However, a stronger dollar due to solid US economic data could reverse this flow quickly, so domestic investors need to watch out for short-term volatility.
Going forward, the big question is whether inflows into Bitcoin ETFs will continue consistently or prove temporary. If the trend continues, there is a chance for Bitcoin to test the next resistance level above US$85,000. Conversely, if fund flows slow, the market could retest support below US$80,000. All eyes are now on US economic data and The Fed's policy signals in the coming weeks.
