PSIM Lose Purzycki for Two Matches as PSSI Disciplinary Committee Tightens Sanction

The PSSI Disciplinary Committee (Komdis) has tightened the punishment for PSIM Yogyakarta midfielder Adrian Purzycki, adding a one-match ban and a Rp10 million fine. The sanction is set out in Decision Letter Number 012/SL/SK/KD-PSSI/IX/2026 signed on 15 September 2026, following the red card he received when PSIM lost 0-1 to Persebaya Surabaya in the second week of the 2026/2027 BRI Super League.
The decision means Purzycki will miss two matches at once. He has already sat out the clash against Madura United on 18 September 2026, and is certain to be unavailable for Laskar Mataram when they host Persija Jakarta at Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul, on 10 October 2026. The 29-year-old midfielder can only return to the pitch when PSIM travel to PSM Makassar in the fifth week, on 16 October 2026.
PSIM manager Iksan Mahar said the club accepted the Komdis PSSI decision even though it considers the additional sanction to be outside the competition's basic regulations. According to him, this season's regulations only require a player who receives a direct red card to miss one match. "We respect the decision that has been given," he said on Wednesday (23/9/2026).
Losing Purzycki is a heavy blow for PSIM, who are still searching for a playing identity. The Poland-born midfielder is one of the main pillars in midfield and Laskar Mataram's first scorer this season. "Of course this is a loss for the team because Purzycki is one of our key players," Iksan said. Nevertheless, the coaching staff are said to have prepared replacement scenarios, including the option of fielding Nermin Haljeta as they did against Madura United.
On the other hand, pressure on PSIM is mounting because they have yet to win in their first three matches. The Naga Jawa squad opened the competition with a 1-1 draw against Persita Tangerang, then lost 0-1 to Persebaya, and were beaten 1-2 by Madura United. Sitting 14th out of 18 teams is a wake-up call for the management and coaching staff to make immediate improvements before a packed schedule against Persija and PSM Makassar.

In the context of the domestic competition, this Komdis PSSI decision underscores stricter discipline in the 2026/2027 season. Similar additional sanctions have hit several players in Liga 1 in previous seasons, but their enforcement has often drawn criticism for being inconsistent. For PSIM, Purzycki's two-match absence could be a test of squad depth as well as an opportunity for young players to show their capacity in midfield.
If PSIM fail to take full points when they host Persija, their position near the bottom could sink further. Conversely, a win without Purzycki would signal that Laskar Mataram can adapt. Will PSIM escape the pressure, or sink deeper before their midfielder returns?
