Java United Hands Discriminatory Remarks Case to PSSI Disciplinary Committee, Persija Demands Justice

Java United FC has finally spoken out regarding the alleged discriminatory remarks made by their Technical Director, Achmad Resal Octavian, toward Persija Jakarta coach Shin Tae-yong in the third-week match of the 2026/2027 BRI Super League at Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Saturday (19/9/2026). In its official statement, Java United's management said it was fully handing the resolution of this matter to the PSSI Disciplinary Committee (Komdis).

The incident came to light after a video circulated showing Resal making remarks with regional sentiment toward Shin Tae-yong. The remarks immediately drew strong reactions from the public and Persija Jakarta's management, who deemed the action a violation of the fair play principle and unbecoming of a club official.

In its statement, Java United emphasized its commitment to the values of inclusivity in football. "With the philosophy of opening opportunities, building hope, and sharing happiness, Java United FC always wants to bring goodness to football," wrote the management of the club nicknamed Laskar Kepodang Emas. They also regretted the unrest triggered by the incident.

Java United's management stressed that every event must have a background that needs to be traced. "We believe every incident has a cause and trigger that can be taken into consideration by the Disciplinary Committee in its decision-making," the statement continued. This stance is seen as the club's effort to remain cooperative while ensuring the legal process runs objectively.

"We fully hand over all processes of resolving the problem and the incident to the PSSI Disciplinary Committee (Komdis)."

Meanwhile, Persija Jakarta through its management has expressed deep disappointment. They highlighted that discriminatory remarks not only hurt individuals but also have the potential to damage the integrity of the competition. As of this news being published, there has been no official statement from the PSSI Disciplinary Committee regarding a hearing schedule or possible sanctions.
