Spanish singer Rosalía officially closed her world tour, Lux, on September 16 after six months of performing in various countries. Once the tour ended, she said she did not want to linger in celebrating its success, but instead go straight home to her hometown of Sant Esteve Sesrovires, near Barcelona, to be with her family. “I really want to go home and see my family. That’s my number one priority,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.
During the tour, a schedule of performing almost every night in a different country was a burden in itself for the 33-year-old. She admitted that the pace drained her energy and made her miss those closest to her. “It’s very challenging to perform every night in a different country. I want to finish it in the best way possible, and then we’ll see,” she said.
Behind her stunning stage performances, Rosalía has a special ritual before going onstage. She seeks calm, not euphoria. “I hope the euphoria comes when I’m onstage. So before performing, I need the opposite. That’s why I light candles, meditate, and move,” she explained. According to her, meditation and free movement help her connect with herself. “If there’s space, I do free movement. For meditation, I usually just stare at a candle. Then I pray and let go.”
As a Calvin Klein fragrance ambassador, Rosalía pays close attention to scent. She even wants the audience to have the same olfactory experience. “When I perform, there’s a smoke dispenser that moves from side to side, and it contains palo santo scent so the audience can experience it too,” she revealed. This detail shows how she combines performance art with a complete sensory experience.
Not only in music, Rosalía is also trying her luck in acting. This year she made her acting debut in the series Euphoria, starring Zendaya. She admitted she learned a lot from the experienced actors there. “They are very experienced; they enter and exit scenes with ease, grace, and relaxation. You can see that they don’t put in more effort than necessary,” she praised. “I think there’s beauty in that art, and I want to learn it and master it.”
For fans in Indonesia, Rosalía’s statements can serve as a mirror of how the global entertainment industry demands high physical and mental dedication. A world tour is not just a series of concerts, but also a test of mental resilience. Artists’ mental health is an issue that is increasingly openly discussed, and Rosalía is among those who do not hesitate to share her vulnerability.
Looking ahead, will Rosalía truly take a short break from the music stage and focus more on acting? Or will she immediately prepare a new project after recharging her energy with family? The public is waiting for the next move from this musician known for boldly exploring the boundaries of art.
