Hisense CanvasTV S7SG: An Art TV with a Free Art Library, a Serious Rival to Samsung Frame

Hisense has officially launched the CanvasTV S7SG, a television styled like a picture frame that challenges the dominance of the Samsung Frame TV. The device offers a free art library containing more than 1,000 works, a teak wood frame, and the Google TV operating system, making it an attractive option for consumers who want a TV that blends into their room decor without an extra subscription fee.

The art TV market is indeed growing rapidly. Samsung was the first to popularize this concept through its Frame line, and now almost every major brand is joining the segment. However, the growing number of choices actually makes it harder for consumers to tell them apart, especially since the specifications and physical appearance are similar. Hisense tries to stand out with an approach based on value and convenience: users do not need a subscription to access the art collection, unlike Samsung, which charges around US$5 per month for a similar service.

In terms of design, the CanvasTV S7SG features a slim QLED panel with a matte coating that dampens light reflections and makes artworks look more natural. The four-sided magnetic frame can be attached easily, and the 50-inch unit tested weighs under 30 pounds, light enough to mount on a wall. For Indonesian consumers, the arrival of the CanvasTV S7SG opens a new option in the premium TV segment that prioritizes aesthetics. Hisense itself has a fairly large user base in the country, and its aggressive pricing strategy is often a draw. If Hisense brings this model officially, the domestic art TV market, which has so far been dominated by the Samsung Frame, could become more competitive, both in terms of price and features. However, it is worth remembering that art TVs are not the main choice for serious picture-quality enthusiasts. Users who prioritize black levels and high contrast should still consider conventional mini-LED or OLED TVs, even if they have to give up the frame aesthetic.

Going forward, competition in the art TV segment is predicted to intensify. Samsung is reported to be releasing a Frame Pro with higher brightness, while Hisense continues to refine the CanvasTV. The question is whether consumers will prefer a TV that blends into the wall or stay loyal to maximum picture performance.
