Persib Bandung management is holding back amidst pressure from Bobotoh (fans) to bring in new players before the transfer window closes. Deputy CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat (PBB), Adhitia Putra Herawan, emphasized that adding personnel cannot be decided solely based on theoretical needs, but must undergo comprehensive consideration of the squad's internal dynamics.
This pressure arises as Maung Bandung (Persib's nickname) faces a packed schedule across four different competitions. Some supporters highlight two positions considered vulnerable: goalkeeper and striker. However, for the management, technical needs are just one of many variables that must be considered. Adhitia mentioned that the locker room atmosphere is a crucial factor often overlooked by the public.
"Managing the locker room is not as simple as imagined," said Adhitia, illustrating the complexity faced by the management team.
He then analogized the team to a comfortable circle of friends. The arrival of a new person, even if they have quality, has the potential to disrupt the established balance. "Imagine you have a comfortable hangout spot, and suddenly someone new arrives who might not fit in. They might have potential, but could instead ruin the existing warmth," he explained, providing an illustration.
Therefore, Adhitia fully entrusts transfer decisions to the sporting department. According to him, Igor Tolic and Stanley are the ones who best understand the technical needs and the daily pulse of the team. "They know best. Let them think, analyze, and decide," Adhitia stated.
This stance by the management reflects a modern club management pattern that is shifting from directive intervention to a data-driven approach and technical team assessment. In many European clubs, recruitment decisions are indeed the domain of the sporting director, while management focuses on resource provision. Persib seems to be adopting a similar logic, placing Igor and Stanley at the forefront of analysis.
Nevertheless, Adhitia assured that the management would not remain passive. Full support would be given regardless of the sporting team's decision. "The management is 100 percent, even 200 percent, behind them. If they want to add players, we are ready. If they want to use the existing squad, we will still support them," he affirmed.
For Bobotoh, this statement can be interpreted as a signal that the club will not rush. However, with the transfer window narrowing, time is a factor that cannot be ignored. If the sporting team deems new ammunition necessary, the management has stated its readiness. Conversely, if they choose to maximize the current squad, that decision will also be respected.
What is clear is that public pressure and competitive demands will continue to test the sharpness of the sporting team's analysis. In the coming weeks, will Persib make moves in the transfer market or rely on its existing strength? The answer will soon be seen on the field.
