FC Bekasi City Women caught the attention in the Indonesia Women's League (IWL) 2026/2027 after their foreign forward, Sofia Grace Iaderosa, scored her first goal in a 3-0 win over Persita Tangerang Women on Sunday (1/11/2026). The goal was more than just another number on the scoresheet; it signaled the 23-year-old striker's resurgence from physical pressure that had disrupted her adaptation in Indonesia.
Since arriving, Sofia has faced non-technical challenges: her physical condition was unstable. She admitted she had to battle feeling unwell several times. However, the chip shot she fired into Persita's net proved that her recovery process is going as hoped. "I am very proud of the team's hard work, and I am also proud of myself for getting through a difficult period," Sofia said after the match, as quoted from a pitchside interview.
Last season, Sofia impressed in the Greek league with AS Volos 2004, scoring 18 goals in 16 matches. That record raised expectations for her in the IWL. Now she has made her personal target clear: to become top scorer and lead Bekasi City Women to the title. "I want to score more goals and help the team win the title," she said.
Coach Rudy Eka Priyambada welcomed the running of the IWL and hopes the competition becomes a stepping stone for Indonesian women's football. He aspires for the Indonesia women's national team to one day play in the World Cup. According to Rudy, the presence of foreign players like Sofia not only improves his team's quality but also brings a new dimension to a league that is just reviving.
On the other hand, Sofia's form is a real threat to rivals. Her ability to rebuild confidence gradually, combined with a sharp scoring instinct, makes Bekasi City Women's front line increasingly dangerous. She even admitted she is still hungry for goals. "Actually I wanted to score one more goal in that match, but the chance did not come. I am happy to be able to rebuild my confidence gradually," she added.
When asked about her short-term focus, Sofia answered plainly: "Scoring again in the next match." That brief answer captures the competitive mentality she has brought to Indonesia.
For Bekasi City Women, Sofia's resurgence is not just about individual statistics. The club has set high targets: winning the IWL and reaching the AFC Women's Champions League (AWCL). With her fitness improving and her sharpness returning, the combination of Sofia's personal ambition and the team's collective targets could reshape the competitive landscape for the rest of the season.
The question is, can Sofia maintain consistency in a league that has only recently kicked off? Or will rivals find a way to blunt her sharpness? Either way, Bekasi City Women's journey in the IWL 2026/2027 will be in the spotlight, especially if the striker keeps scoring as she has promised.
