- Ligue 1 mencatat rata-rata 3,04 gol per laga, tertinggi ketiga di lima liga top Eropa, dengan 59% gol lahir di babak kedua.
- Persaingan gelar sangat ketat: lima klub berbeda pernah memuncaki klasemen hanya dalam sembilan pekan, dan selisih poin enam besar hanya lima angka.

Ligue 1 this season defies the stigma of a monotonous league. Official data shows France's top-flight competition has become the most nail-biting spectacle among Europe's five major leagues, averaging 3.04 goals per match—third highest after the Bundesliga (3.5) and Serie A (3.18), but above LaLiga (3.01) and the Premier League (2.7).
That goal productivity is no coincidence. For the third season running, Ligue 1 has consistently produced more than three goals per game. More intriguingly, 59% of them come in the second half—the second-highest percentage in Europe after Germany. As a result, drama often arrives in the closing minutes: teams that were initially trailing went on to take the lead in the final 15 minutes 12 times out of the 81 matches played so far.
The tension is also visible in how few matches end goalless. Only six of 81 games (7%) finished 0-0, the second best among European leagues after Serie A. In other words, almost every week there is something worth watching—whether a spectacular goal, a crucial save, or a dramatic comeback.
On efficiency, Ligue 1 holds its own too. The conversion rate for big chances reaches 38%—second best after LaLiga. Interestingly, the league commits the fewest errors leading to goals among the five major leagues. The combination of sharp finishing and defensive discipline makes for higher-quality matches.
Competition at the top is also remarkably tight. Although PSG only seized top spot in week 8, five clubs have taken turns leading. Compare that with LaLiga, where Barcelona have been firmly on the throne since week two. The points gap between first and sixth place is just five—level with the Bundesliga, but half the gap in the Premier League.
“The opening goal arrives on average in the 29th minute, faster than any league except the Bundesliga. Yet that lead does not necessarily decide the final result,” the league's analysis found, noting that only 68% of teams that score first go on to win—the lowest figure among Europe's top five leagues.
The fact that 11 teams (15%) actually lost after taking the lead is clear proof that Ligue 1 this season is hard to predict. The average goal difference between teams is just 1.38, the second tightest after the Premier League (1.33). All these indicators place Ligue 1 as the league with the highest level of unpredictability, while delivering an entertaining spectacle.
For Indonesian football fans, this data is relevant. The domestic league is often criticized for being low-scoring and easy to predict. Ligue 1 shows that a competitive competition—not one dominated by a single club—can attract global attention. If Liga 1 wants to boost its appeal, improving effective playing time and chance conversion is an urgent task.
Looking ahead, Ligue 1's biggest challenge is sustaining this intensity until the end of the season. With the title race still open and French clubs' performances in European competition trending upward, it is not impossible that the league slowly erodes the dominance of the Premier League narrative as the most entertaining league. The public is entitled to ask: will this tension last, or will it fade once PSG rediscovers its consistency?
