- Manajemen PT PP menyampaikan permohonan maaf dan berjanji menanggung biaya pengobatan petugas yang luka, sementara polisi telah mengantongi identitas terduga pelaku.

A clash between officers of the Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and a number of workers on the Attorney General's Office building project broke out on Jalan Kyai Maja, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Monday (12/10). The incident, which occurred around the lunch break, was captured on video and spread quickly on social media, showing shoving and the throwing of hard hats at officers.
The head of Jakarta Satpol PP, Satriadi Gunawan, explained that the unrest began when a group of officers passed along Jalan Kyai Maja after cracking down on street vendors, illegal parking, and people with social welfare problems. One of the operation's targets was an illegal parking area in front of the Bulungan Swimming Pool, South Jakarta, where dozens of vehicles had their tires deflated under the so-called Operasi Cabut Pentil (OCP).
According to Satriadi, the rearmost truck in the convoy was pelted by a number of project workers. Officers then got out after hearing a woman scream for help. At the crowd, officers claimed to find that the crowd consisted of project workers whose vehicles had been targeted by the OCP. The workers were upset because they considered the parking area to have been provided by the company.
The situation briefly calmed but heated up again due to provocation from arriving crowds. Satriadi stated that the situation led to stone-throwing and violence against officers at the scene. He added that an officer was injured while trying to protect another member who had fallen and was nearly set upon.
"The truck at the back of the convoy was pelted by a number of workers on the Attorney General's Office building project," Satriadi said in his statement, Monday (12/10).
The incident highlights the tensions that often arise in crackdowns on illegal parking in busy areas such as Kebayoran Baru. The Operasi Cabut Pentil is indeed a mainstay instrument for Satpol PP to create a deterrent effect, but the method is prone to triggering conflict when it touches the vehicles of workers who believe they have parking permission from the company. In the context of a national strategic project such as the Attorney General's Office building, such a clash could disrupt the construction schedule and the image of the project manager.
After the incident, representatives of PT PP management came to the Kebayoran Baru district office to deliver an apology. They also stated their willingness to take responsibility for the impact of the incident, including damage and medical costs for injured members. The step is seen as an effort to ease tensions and maintain relations with the local government.
Satpol PP has reported the individuals who committed violence to the police. According to Satriadi, the suspects have been identified and will be processed further. As of the publication of this news, there has been no official statement from the police regarding the status of the suspects.
Going forward, the big question is whether the crackdown on illegal parking in strategic project areas will be evaluated so as not to trigger similar clashes. Coordination between Satpol PP, the project manager, and the police needs to be strengthened, especially in identifying legitimate parking areas for workers. Without improved governance, friction between officers and workers could recur in other locations.
