Apple Offers Only One Pink MacBook, Why?

Apple recently introduced the MacBook Neo, its latest laptop and the only personal computer available in pink. The color, which Apple calls 'Blush', received a warm reception on social media, especially among students. Yet behind its popularity, the MacBook Neo is aimed at casual users and note-taking needs, since its performance is not enough for professional-level creative work.
Since Apple discontinued Rose Gold across all laptop lines, the company has tended to avoid striking colors for high-end models. The MacBook Air does offer light blue, but the MacBook Pro is available only in Silver and Space Black. This decision raises a question: why does Apple not offer more bright color options on its laptops, especially given the bold color trend that is increasingly popular on other devices?
In the smartphone market, bright colors have become a major draw. The Google Pixel 11, for instance, comes in a hot pink called Hibiscus, reminiscent of the old Motorola Razr. The foldable Motorola Razr is also available in Hot Pink. Apple itself has applied pink to the iPhone 16 and 17e, as well as the base iPad with the A16 chip and the iMac M4. However, for Pro devices such as the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro, the available colors are only neutral and subdued.
Apple's decision not to offer bright colors in the Pro line may be based on the preferences of professional users who prioritize function and a serious impression. However, with rumors of an upcoming MacBook Pro redesign, there is an opportunity for Apple to reconsider its color strategy. This step could be an added draw for consumers who want a powerful device with a more expressive look.
"Demand for brightly colored devices continues to rise, especially in the young consumer segment. Apple needs to adapt to this trend without sacrificing the professional image of the Pro line," said a technology analyst.
In Indonesia, the premium laptop market such as the MacBook Pro is still dominated by neutral color options. Professional and creative consumers in major cities tend to choose devices that support productivity, but some also want a touch of personalization. If Apple expands its color options on Pro models, this could strengthen its position in a competitive market, especially among younger generations who pay increasing attention to aesthetics.
Going forward, will Apple dare to offer more colors in the MacBook Pro line? With increasingly tight competition from brands like Google and Motorola that offer bold colors, Apple may need to reconsider its approach. If not, they risk losing market share in the segment of users who want a device that is not only functional but also stylish.
