The United States boxing team (USA Boxing) concluded the Melee Gala XI international event in Winnipeg, Canada, with a convincing 5-1 victory over the hosts on Saturday (19/9). Five US boxers—Noelle Haro, Lorenzo Patricio, Alisha Crockett, Marcus Luther, and Naomi Graham—secured wins, while Tyric Trapp suffered the team's only loss. This result provides valuable momentum ahead of the 2026 Pan American Championships in Puebla, Mexico, next October.
Lorenzo Patricio opened the scoring for the US with a unanimous decision victory over Max Tomines in the 55-kilogram division. The Hawaiian boxer now holds an international record of 11-2 throughout 2026, along with a gold medal from the World Boxing Cup: China 2026 and a silver from the 77th Strandja International Tournament. Patricio's victory was followed by Naomi Graham, who won by split decision over Viktoria Penney (75 kg), and Alisha Crockett, who secured a unanimous decision win over Florence Belle Germain (60 kg). For Crockett, this marks her first international victory.
US dominance continued with Marcus Luther, who secured a unanimous decision victory over Yacine Benaoudia in the 65 kg division. Luther, a boxer from Washington, D.C., recorded his fifth international unanimous decision win in 2026 and improved his record to 7-3. He recently earned a silver medal at the World Boxing Cup: China 2026. Noelle Haro completed the US victories with a split decision win over Mckenzie Wright (51 kg). The Texas boxer now holds a 4-2 record on the international stage, including a bronze at the World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2026.
The only minor setback for the US came from Tyric Trapp, who lost by split decision to Umar Carcamo after three rounds of Olympic-style boxing. The New Jersey boxer holds an international record of 5-4 in 2026, with a bronze medal from the 2026 Copa America. Despite the loss, the experience of competing in Canada remains part of the development process for young US athletes.
"This victory demonstrates the depth of our squad. Both young and senior boxers performed solidly, and this is important preparation for the Pan American Championships," said a USA Boxing coach, as quoted from the official release.
