The DC film industry has again been stirred by an accidental leak. A photo circulating on social media shows the making of singer and model Heidi Klum's Halloween costume, which apparently used the services of prosthetic effects house Prosthetic Renaissance. In the background of the photo, several face casts and masks are visible that are strongly suspected to be preparations for the film The Batman Part 2. The casts offer clues about the villains who will appear in the sequel directed by Steven Soderbergh.
Prosthetic Renaissance is no stranger to Batman fans. The company was previously involved in the production of The Batman (2022), directed by Matt Reeves. In the circulating photo, a face cast resembling actor Brian Tyree Henry with injuries to the lower face is visible, indicating that he will play Harvey Dent, who transforms into Two-Face. In addition, there is a cast labeled "Zsasz", which has long been linked to rumors of Sebastian Stan as serial killer Victor Zsasz. Another cast is suspected to be for actor Charles Dance, though his role remains unclear.
The most attention-grabbing is a cast labeled "Owl 3". This reinforces speculation that the secret organization Court of Owls will be the main antagonist. The Court of Owls is a group of Gotham elites who have long controlled the city from behind the scenes. The label "Owl 3" could refer to a mask of one of the members or the costume of Talon, their assassin. Previously, Matt Reeves had stated that the villain in this sequel "has never really appeared in a film". That statement now seems to be finding clarity.
This is not the first leak. Previously, Sebastian Stan had stated in an interview with French media, Le Journal du Dimanche, that he would play Harvey Dent. However, the article was later updated and the statement removed. Now, the photo from Heidi Klum's costume team seems to be a stronger unofficial confirmation. Nevertheless, the studio has not given an official comment, and it is possible that the casts are merely part of Klum's Halloween costume, which happens to have a similar theme.
For the Indonesian entertainment industry, this kind of leak phenomenon shows how great global market enthusiasm is for superhero franchises. The Batman films themselves have a large fan base in Indonesia, and every development of the project is always discussed on social media. Indonesian cinemas are also often a promising market for DC films, as seen from the fairly successful performance of The Batman (2022). If The Batman Part 2 really features the Court of Owls, its potential appeal will be even greater, especially since this organization has never been adapted to the big screen.
"The villain in this film has never really appeared in a film before," Matt Reeves said in an interview, as quoted from various sources.
In addition, the change in the director's chair from Matt Reeves to Steven Soderbergh adds a new dimension. Reeves reportedly stepped down to deal with family matters, and Soderbergh was trusted to finish filming. Soderbergh is known for his distinctive directing style, so fans are wondering whether his touch will change the tone of the film, which was previously touted as dark and realistic. The release schedule, pushed back from October 2025 to 18 February 2028, also gives production time to mature, but on the other hand, public expectations are getting higher.
As of this news being published, there has been no official confirmation from Warner Bros. or the production side. However, if this leak is accurate, The Batman Part 2 has the potential to be one of the most anticipated superhero films of the decade. The question is, will the Court of Owls be a more dangerous threat to Batman than the Riddler? We await the answer in cinemas.
