Sad news has come from Brandi Glanville. The 53-year-old known for the reality show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills announced that her father had died at the age of 77. In a post on platform X, she openly shared her grief, accompanied by a broken-heart emoji. The message gave no explanation of the cause of her father's death.
The loss of a parent is a heavy blow for anyone. But for Brandi, this mourning comes as she is still grappling with complicated health problems that have yet to find a clear resolution. Over the past few years, she has said she experienced a series of symptoms that baffled doctors, and at one point she felt she would not survive.
On her podcast, Unfiltered, Brandi revealed plans to undergo exploratory surgery in the coming weeks. The procedure will examine her Eustachian tubes, gums, and sinuses. She hopes the surgery can be a solution to the complaints that have long frustrated her. "I'm very excited. The last four years I wasn't sure I could get through it," she said on the podcast episode.
Several of the diagnoses Brandi has disclosed are rare and complex. ESBL Klebsiella is a bacterium resistant to several types of antibiotics, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Valley Fever, meanwhile, is a fungal infection, and Demodex dermatitis is caused by mites that live in human hair follicles. The combination of these conditions explains why her recovery process has been slow and full of uncertainty.
Amid the burden of illness, Brandi also faces financial pressure. Her close friend, Gina Rodriguez, launched a GoFundMe page to help cover the mounting medical costs. Brandi said she was initially reluctant to ask for help because she felt ashamed, but she realized that without regular treatment, her condition would not improve. "If I stop paying, I won't get the medication, and there will be no progress," she said.
"I'm scared for my health. I don't know what's making me sick," Brandi said on her podcast.
Beyond the physical issues, Brandi also admitted that she had isolated herself from her social circle. In an interview with TMZ, she revealed that many friends were worried about her mental state, not her physical illness. "I just want to deal with this on my own because it's hard to explain and I don't have answers," she said. This admission highlights the importance of psychological support for patients with chronic illnesses that are not clearly diagnosed.
Brandi Glanville's story reflects the challenges faced by many patients with rare or complex diseases: diagnostic uncertainty, high treatment costs, and the emotional pressure that accompanies them. In Indonesia, similar cases also occur frequently, especially for those who must access specialist health services abroad or face diseases that are not yet widely known. Support from family and community is key so that patients do not feel alone.
Going forward, the exploratory surgery Brandi will undergo offers new hope. However, the success of the procedure cannot yet be guaranteed. What is clear is that her health journey is still long, and the public will continue to follow the condition of the former reality star. Will she find answers about her illness, or will she face an even more challenging new chapter?
